To rest, or not to rest?

To rest, or not to rest?

Postby Roscodog » Wed May 30, 2007 1:30 pm

That is the question.

91-62 -(9 games left.)
Division wrapped up easily.
Top team in league 94-59

Everett, Freel - Wondering if I should sit them out the last nine games to avoid a 15 game injury, or do I try to win the league and get HFA. Also I have a slim chance of my first 100 win season if I can go on a winning streak. I'm just kind of thinking out loud here :?

That's how I'm leaning.

REST THEM

you would have to make up 3 games to get HFA, assuming you took the season series vs the other team. Assuming you went 6-3, the other team would have to go 3-6. PRobably not likely, unless they are resting a lot of guys.

I just had Escobar go down for 12 additional last night, which means he missed the first game of the semi's. Don't let it happen to you!!!

You won't miss the playoff regardless, and as long as you will still have HFA for the first round, let it go and keep healthy.

At the very least if you play them tonight, don't tempt HAL and you better sit them for the final 6 games.

I would probably play them till the last series myself. No profound logic or method behind that decision. I suppose it would also vary based on who it is: Escobar, I'd rest. Freel, I'd base it on who I have in reserve.

I have Santiago to back up Everett and Winn/Bloomquist to back up Freel. The way you put it Geekor it makes sense that it will not be easy to pick up the 3 games.

I'm just tempted to play them until I lose 1 more game.

I would rest the most important players with less than 600 PA. Home field is less important to me than having all my key guys healthy for the playoffs.

I would not rest any players with 600+ PA.

Everett/Freel are my only 2 starters w/ less than 600 pa's. I have Mauer but even though he's a #2 injury he can still only get hurt for 3 games. I'll probably rest him the last series just to make sure he's available for game 1

I rest them. SOM is about managing statisitics. Playing them only puts you at a greater risk than the rewards of what may happen.

Rest them!

But don't forget to put them back in the line up come playoff time.
