[quote:ab702d65d2]I'd agree on the platoons in the our field but i've struggle to find a modest price RF and Dh that I like. Thoughts?[/quote:ab702d65d2]
the problem is HAL does a very very very very (I could go on forever) poor job of handling platoons. In fact, it's like he does nothing, no it's not "it's like", he really does nothing. No real or good pinch hits, nothing.
This makes your offense weak late in the games when the bullpen comes into play.
Personally, I would keep Scott. He has the most TB's vs RHP in the set, as well as the only true #2 hitter in the set (using the criteria of low DP's + OBP). He is also usually a first round pick (as is Vizquel).
Also E German is out there, one of the 2 (him and Abreu) true leadoff hitters in the set (50+ ob and a * for stealing). Forget the W powered on him, he's usually in the top 10 in OBP, on 2 teams of mine he is #1. Play him at 2nd (bad but not horrible def) 3rd (bad Errors) or DH (prefer a DH for power for you).
And I can't believe C Ross is out there when you are platooning and you haven't picked him up. Do it, [u:ab702d65d2]NOW[/u:ab702d65d2]. A Cheap power platoon for you at DH could be Ross/McPherson.
So if you took your DH, RF, C, 1B, 2B and replaced them with Thome, Pierz, Ross/McPherson, Thames (2nd most pure Hr's in the set + max BP Hr's), German and a .50 backup C, it would save you .93 mil.
Of course I didn't do the math to see if it would actually make you better, just seeing what was available and eyeballing it ;)
