:D Well since he admitted WHO he is, lets tell the REST of the story! Here is a PRO at this game, {I can only guess at how he got to the heights he has attained}, who accuses people {whom he does not know} of things I would GUESS he tries to accomplish all the time! I made a pre waiver trade of Belliard for Boone! Mr PBTR{?????} made me a offer I did not take, whereby he proceeded to tell me how Boone would not perform well for me! Ok, but I had never had Boone and said I would like to try him, so would be keeping him! Besides being refered to as a future Genius by my foolish moves he accused me of FLEECING the person with whom I made the trade! I can only ASSUME that this is HOW he attained his lofty position in this game and thought he had caught me doing the same! I since traded Boone to a team in his division, on the condition that he not give Boone to him before offering him back to me first! For the most part I have met really good people playing this GAME, but it is just a game! I go on the assumption---Why offer a insulting trade---Fleece someone---for what to win a GAME, no thanks, I will just continue to try and win above board! After being accused of fleecing I informed him I did not want more of his messages {I think shortly afterward his no SPAM order came!} I think a lot of the fun comes from communication {GOOD communication} I will make sure NOT to enter into any of his leagues! If by my inability to enjoy being called a Fleecer, has caused any problems{most likely has} then I am truly sorry! Enough said!

How do all the parties involved in this have time to read all of these message posts if they don't have time to read league email?

Okay, I was the one who sent the original message about Wilkerson’s stats, and PBTR was the one who sent the “no spam, please” response. Of course I’ve seen PBTR on the message boards, but I don’t recall any history of playing with him in a league, and I didn’t have any opinion of him before, good or bad. With that background, let me share my observations with PBTR and the rest of you.

It is clear to me that when posting his initial reply – [quote:45208951e2]How about if we restrict league e-mail to really pertinent issues?...[/quote:45208951e2]
– PBTR was genuinely trying to be cordial. However, PBTR, try putting yourself in the position of the person receiving the message. Your [i:45208951e2]words[/i:45208951e2] are polite, but what it [i:45208951e2]sounds like[/i:45208951e2] is, [quote:45208951e2]Hey, don’t take it personally, but most of what you say is a boring, stupid waste of time to most other people.[/quote:45208951e2]
As F.O.X mentioned before, PBTR’s message put an end to the fun messages in the league. Let me clarify – there were about two messages a day up until PBTR’s message – not 20 messages a day. The messages were about player’s stats in the league, how well/poorly teams were doing, or free agent chatter in real MLB. There were no nasty messages, where one manager was teasing another in any manner.

PBTR told me he has about 20 teams running at a time among three platforms (ATG2, 2005, and one other). I usually have 1-3 teams running. PBTR likes to interact with others on the message board. I like to interact with others in the leagues I’m in, and then sometimes on the message board. Is one of us right or wrong, better or worse? Of course not. Furthermore, this is a public league, with some first-time managers. Do you guys remember how fun your first league was? What do you think they think of PBTR’s edict?

Like Fillies, I will try to avoid playing in a league with PBTR in the future. Again, I have nothing against the guy; different people have different styles of enjoying the game. I [b:45208951e2]like[/b:45208951e2] clicking on my team and seeing the little yellow envelope icon.

My point is that it is better for someone who doesn’t like messages in a league to delete them without reading them, than for people who do like sending/receiving messages to have to worry who they are bothering and boring.

Guys PBTR is a respected pro. He had a simple request, do not include him with the non-trade email. You say it would be just as easy for him to click delete, it is just as easy for you to ctrl/click every other manager but PBTR.

LOL I'm not quite sure how RESPECTED I am, but thanks for your message.

I think it was simply a misunderstanding, and I was a little quick to react due to having similar problems in another league. Hopefully it's no huge deal and if it is I apologize.

Believe it or not I actually do quite enjoy the banter around here, when I have time, on the boards. Sorry if anyone got the wrong impression.

I'm wondering what calculations result in the conclusion that it's just as easy for the eleven other managers to click on ten other managers to send a message, versus one manager clicking once to delete...? Isn't that, like, ten clicks vs. one click...? Or would it be 110 vs one...?

If more than one manager asked me to stop sending messages, I'd consider whether I might be a jerk and maybe stop.

Otherwise, if manager told me I had to click 10 extra times just because he's too [i:b0cf532c37]special[/i:b0cf532c37] to click once to delete my messages, I'd consider whether [i:b0cf532c37]he[/i:b0cf532c37] might be a jerk, and ignore his request. If he persisted, I'd tell him to go to hell, then ignore his request.

Oh and by the way for those who care, I sarcastically called Fillies "young genius" (not future genius) when I pointed out that the HR rating for RH batters in Safeco is one less than in Montreal where he admitted to me that he had Boone once and he struggled. See, Mr. Fillies had previously pointed out his pedagree to me saying that "I may not be an expert like you are (as if manager rating has any reflection whatsoever of a managers' skill) but I know this game just as well."

Well, you can ask any vet on these boards, Belliard for Boone is a darned good fleecing, not that there's anything wrong with being able to pull that off, but c'mon let's call a spade a spade. Even in the "wrong" park, Boone is a tremendous value.

Young Mr. Filles so overreacted to my casual sarcastic remark that he promptly traded Mr. Boone to my division leader with the agreement that under no circumstances would he ever trade Mr. Boone to me.

That's why it's so very pleasing to see Boone underperforming, and for the record I asked the manager in question to trade him to me but told him that honestly he really should keep him because "he is helping your team more than you realize."

If he continues to tank I imagine I might see him on the wire someday, won't that be sweet... (For the record Harris and Perez platoon SUCKS!)

(I am in Minute Maid, BTW.)
