Kev, you can play a 4th OF and in the stands. The ball would still be hit over their heads. :shock: :lol:

Visick, no I don't have the Ratings, in fact never have.

What I see though just from looking re Payton is:

* 1 natural home run on #4
* 2 BP homers on #10 & 11
* The remaining hits looks pretty dog gone even to me, in fact slightly better than from the left.

--On the right side he has no BP homers at all and the natural on #4 is just on a 1-14 roll.

I could be wrong, but in this league here that left side stands out as best to me. In addition, he has an 'N' on the left and an 'W' on the right. And thirdly, his platoon mate Markakis is very similar, just the opposite of Payton.

Am I off base here? That left side on Payton looks tons better, especially with all parks in the league being HR parks.

Jeep, Payton has more power, and the 'N' against lefties, which is important in this league, but overall, he has fewer hits, OB, and total bases against lefties. So, if you could put him in a park that is a lefty power park and a righty pitchers park, he's very nice, and the defense is good. Personally, I like the guys card alot, but I don't think I'd want him here because the OBP/Avg side of his card has no power. It might work though.

I was actually really happy to get Francouer, because his numbers are close to Payton vs. lefties, he has better power, and I can hit him five or six because of the positive clutch. Cheaper to boot, but I still had the unsettling feeling that I was spending too much for a guy that would get far fewer ABs than in a 'normal' league.

But, again, I really like Paytons card.

How cool would it be for my outfielders. While they are playing for the deep ball in the stands, Quentin, Andruw, and JD Drew could order a beer and a hot dog from the nearby concession stand. 8) 8)

I have Freel, Castillo and Roberts all with W power on their cards. I'm not worried.

My team will surprise folks as my strategy will work with solid D, team speed and with all of the baserunners there will be, a lack of hitting into 6-4-3 DP's.

I like my cheap Catcher platoon. It will only help with giving away bases due to errors and passed balls with the horrid starters we all have and erratic WP's of our relief corps.

Well made some roster moves with Payton one of the expendibles. Don't really like my squad a whole lot, sure wish I had a couple less platoons and more $$ invested in one person for that position, but there's nothing but scraps left in Free Agents. Obviously with everyone around 3 million invested in starting pitching all the good high priced hitters are gone, gone, gone.

All our starters are locked in now and ready to go Nine. :wink:

On a more serious note thanks to everyone for participating and good luck! :)

I think it'll take about 3 or 4 starts for my starters to go nine innings. With a less than stellar defense, I'm not sure how we'll get anyone out.
I had pulled a Sykes in another similar league (chose defense and speed) and ended up about .500. I think this team is too far the other way. I'm looking to be in the bottom 3 in pitching (what else is new?).
My offense will have to score like crazy and give Wagner some save chances! 8)

I'm ready to lose to Jeep 15-14, 13-11, and 18-15 in a 3 game series in which I blow 9th inning leads in every game and the runs are all unearned. Why should things change for this league? :cry: :oops:

I haven't looked in depth yet, but from the scores I wouldn't say there was huge offensive numbers put up last night. If I remember correctly that's the way it was last year w/this theme...not as many runs scored as you'd think.

Hitting?

We don't need no stinkin' hitting.

My team ERA is: 2.57 and WHIP is: 1.29.
