I consulted with our lawyers and this is what we have come up with.
While the Charter DOES say:[quote:41f0776e3c]Before entering the Supplemental Draft, a team must drop as many players that it wishes to redraft (up to 3) prior to the start of the Supplemental Draft[/quote:41f0776e3c]
It also later says:[quote:41f0776e3c]You may of course trade for another owner's Supplemental Draft picks and thus have more rounds that way, but you will never be able to have greater than a 40 man roster.[/quote:41f0776e3c]
While I do agree with KD's assessment of the language, I ALSO thinks that it allows for D-T to keep his traded pick and have up to 3 of his own (by dropping a 4th player).
While that may seem sacriligous it is actually not. BECAUSE, AT MOST, 36 players will be picked up. The player that QK drops to cover his First Round traded pick, he replaces with his Round 2 pick, and if he wants a Round 3 pick he drops a second player. He only gets to pick up 2 players.
D-T still gets to drop his normal max of 3 players to replace 3 players (his alotted 3 rounds), but [i:41f0776e3c]gets to make an additional drop [/i:41f0776e3c]to cover the EXTRA pick that Qk will NOT be able to make.
This way he will not end up with a roster over 40 players. While I admit that may be a somewhat vague interpretation, I believe it is the most fair.
[i:41f0776e3c][b:41f0776e3c]There would still be a max of 36 players taken[/b:41f0776e3c][/i:41f0776e3c], which is the full intent of the rules.
