Waiver drop and pickup

I want to drop Player A to clear some cap room for my first waiver pick. Can I then pick up Player A later in waivers (after clearing more cap room with subsequent waiver selections) or will he be unavailable until the mini-frenzy?

If you drop him prior to waivers then he's in the FA pool and available to pick up during waivers.

You must drop him before waivers start to be able to pick him up in the waivers period.

Thank you both for your answers. I should have been more clear. I am dropping Player A during waivers so blue turtle clears up my question. I'll have a browser window set just for him at 5.
