FRKL 2007 - Season I - Chat Thread

Just an FYI that preparations for Season II will not begin until about mid July. And since we're only doing 2 seasons per card set, we can wait a bit if any owner is going to be offline for vacation/etc.

It all comes down to tonight - 1 win and I am in, because I hold the tiebreaker vs. Cummings2 & visick, for the WC.

If it is a 2-way tie then Tiebreakers for a 2-way tie are, in order:
- Head-to-head record
- Run differential
- Coin flip

and my squad went 5-4 vs. Cummings2 and 17-7 vs. visick

If it is a 3-way tie then Tiebreakers for a 3-way tie are, in order:
- Best record vs. teams within division
- Run differential
- Coin flip

And I have 38 wins in my division, vs. 36 for C2 & 32 for visick

Of course with 2 wins I'll clinch the division, and won't have to worry about WC tiebreakers ... just as long as I don't go 0-3. :x :x

Meanwhile congratulations are definitely due to John Law, the only owner guaranteed a playoff spot at this moment I believe. Everyone else is in limbo until after tonights results!

Looks like visick got his wish, as his squad was able to keep Jack from playing spoiler with a solid sweep, and that combined with my team winning 2 of 3 allowed him to win the WC.

Last night was a pretty wild night - except for John Law. ;)

The Shrinks won 2 of 3, and thanks to ZimHarry (who is probably no longer on jehales X-Mas card list) sweeping Elk Creek wins a tiebreaker to clinch the Central with an 80-82 record.

I was not expecting visick's squad to sweep, but I should have since they are pretty good at home and the Neon Rain doesnt storm very well on the road, so it is definitely a good thing that I took 2 of 3, otherwise it would have been me on the outside. Sorry kev!!

This was definitely a competitive league all season long & I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and will be looking forward to Season II - which as previously mentioned - will start up in mid-July.

No prob AT! Congrats! Your team earned their way by winning 2 of 3 last night from me.
HOWEVER.....your team defied the odds to make the postseason:

[b:042106d0db]It all came down to Game 2 in last night's series!!!
I had a 6-3 lead in the 9th inning with Papelbon on the mound!!
If Papelbon holds on as normal.....we make the playoffs...........but no-o-o-o!!
A single, an error, and a 3-run HR ties the game!!
In the top of the 10th Konerko hits a HR for me!! :D
All I need to do is hang on to the lead in the bottom of the 10th.............but no-o-o-o-o!! A 2-out single by Grudzielanek wins the game!

OH--AND GET THIS!!!!.............Left On Base: AT-3 Kev-15 [/b:042106d0db]

YIKES!! I can't catch a break in the '07 season. I have a 1066-1058 record but of 8 completed teams, only 1 made the playoffs and 3 teams ended up 1 game out of a playoff spot.

OK---I'm through venting about the 2007 campaign!! For now!

Kev, I hope you had enough kleenex when that was over. That's rough to take any way you cut it.

GL P/O teams!

Tough way to lose, Kev, with your stud Papelbon ready to close it out. I hope I can break my playoff losing streak. It seems like the #1 seeded teams I have had in the past have a VERY difficult time beating the Wild Card team that usually goes on to win it all! I really wasn't looking forward to facing VISICK's potent offense. Best of luck to all the playoff teams. I was sure surprised to have a such a successful campaign against such top notch competition. Looking forward to next season, you guys make for a fun league!

kev - I think all of us have been there at least once - I am sure the breaks will bounce your way soon enough!

Good luck to the other playoff squads tonight.
