NLD 16 Role call and Check in

Postby Wineman » Fri Jun 29, 2007 10:57 am

BigAlric gets my vote for manager of the year. Despite the ratings and sims he has his team coasting to an easy finish. A tip of the cap to a fine managerial job.

BTW - This is probably the least competitive NLD ever. Most seasons there are 8 or 9 teams in the hunt going down to the last day or two of the season. Not sure what happened here.

Yep, Big A has been the master. He took two from us last night, helped by a 3 game injury to Morneau.

It's looking bleak, but we'll just have to win a lot of games, especially against Big A, to have a shot.

Shields is just killing us. 5.46 ERA and 7 blown in 15 chances. That ERA is almost twice what he posted last year. :? I thought it might be because of his work load, but there are a few guys who have more innings/games and aren't even close to *this* bad.

The fat lady isn't singing, but she's warming up. :( He's got to quit blowing saves and start keeping us in games.

Not having Morneau for the first game, a one run loss in extras, didn't help either. :(

We tried hard to get swept when Gaudin balks in the tying run in the top of the 9th, but we were lucky enough to see Lane hit a homer off of Wuertz. (bphr 1-13)

Well, not to take anything away from Riggo, but he has a 31-17 record in 1-run games, which is ridiculous, one of the best marks I've ever seen. My RS/RA does not equate to 15 gms behind him, but that's where we are...

Riggo did a great job of putting together a nice 4-man rotation which would minimize his pen usage, but his weak pen has no business holding that many leads. 45 SVs, 12 blown, and $.95 CJ Wilson putting up a 1.53 ERA & 1.03 WHIP in 53 key innings. Chris Ray similar stats in 58 IP as the primary closer for under $3M. Nice stuff.

Well I need to go 12-9 this final week to avoid 100 losses. Not looking good.

2nd in the league in run differential.2nd best offense,an era that has steadily gone down from the beginning of the year,Saito,Wagner,Wuertz and Hancock all with very solid ERA's yet still struggling along at 67-74.I guess Riggo has been the lucky one in 1 run games while my team still cant win the close ones with an 19-33 record.Oh what could have been  If only my starting pitchers would have been just a little better. :( .

Hawk definitely takes the cake for unluckiest this go around. That's a pretty awful record in one run game.

Wish my expensive RPs were pitching like Riggo's cheapies. :(

Shields blows another save and we lose 2 of 3 to Big M. I'd say we're toast now. Oh, and we lost both games in the last at bat. :(

We're 4-10 in extras. Brutal.

Yeah, we needed to sweep Big A tonight, but lost game 2 (in extras by one run of course). Of course Shields (5.36 ERA) gets the BS (although he didn't pitch all that poorly. on top of that, we lose Edmonds and Teahen for 10 games. Ouch. Tough time to lose them. Brutal  We've had some tough injuries at the end here. :(

OTOH, we did win two close games in the other two. We just had to have a sweep, now we're 7 back with 15 to play and two teams to catch. Not likely, but still possible. The injuries will probably keep it from happening in any case. Dang, would have been nice to at least have a short injury out of the two. <sigh>

We've got to beat the suddenly tough Renegades however. They did us a favor by sweeping Big M tonight!

We'll have to get REALLY lucky to make a run with the injuries. Blah.

p.s. forgot to note that the injuries come *right* after the cut deadline. :(
