The board game is awesome. I think I speak for many of us that the online game is a nostalgic way of revisiting the great board game from our younger days.

Another link directly for getting the game is: www.strat-o-matic.com .

Hey crazycanuk and others, a couple of pieces of advice to consider:
[list=1:51212f4e42][*:51212f4e42]If you just ordered the game, you probably ordered the 2004 season. The 2005 season cards are not available yet. You might consider calling up Strat-O-Matic and ask them to wait on sending you the game until it is the 2005 season cards.
[*:51212f4e42]Find one person to take the adventure with you. Playing face-to-face with another person is what it's all about.
[*:51212f4e42]The rules book will freak you out when you see it. It's as long as an engineering textbook. Unless you are totally obsessive, I'd recommend following the standard rule plus [b:51212f4e42]"advanced options"[/b:51212f4e42], and [u:51212f4e42]skipping[/u:51212f4e42] the "super advanced options." To me, the advanced options are enough for a human to handle, and the super advanced is a lot of extra complication with nominal improvement to the game.
[*:51212f4e42]Even if you are Canadian, avoid using the metric options. No one wants to play a baseball game with 10 players who play 10 innings.
[*:51212f4e42]Avoid the Star Tournament. I went once about a year ago and it was a major turn-off. Ten guys with no patience for socializing or welcoming in newcomers.[/list:o:51212f4e42]

LOL thanks for the advice. :D

Yeah, I realize it's the 2004 cards I'd get but that's ok. I kinda wanted them. Then in April or so I'll get the 05 ones. I'm kinda scared of the super advanced rules so I'll take your advice there too. lol thanks again.

I ordered my Strat game the other day and it should be here soon. I played countless hours of the board game growing up in the 70s & 80s. There is nothing like it IMO. You should also try the CD ROM game as well (ver. 10.0 is the latest). I replayed an entire season in about 2 minutes, lol! I'm doing it again, but making the pitching/lineup decisions. I'm interested to see how some of these uncarded players do for an entire season (i.e., Calvin Pickering).

If you want to to find others to play face-to-face (FTF) with you should google Strat-O-Matic classifieds. You are bound to find people near you wanting to play in leagues, tournaments, etc.

Have fun!

Thanks cpl...I hope to find some people to play with. I always wanted this game when I was a kid then forgot about it and stumbled across this online game so I thought I'd get the board version. I think I'll try the cd rom version too. have fun with your game.
