[b:461542a347]Team Awards:[/b:461542a347]

MVP - Torii Hunter

Hunter actually performed to card, and provided me with Power, Defense & a bit of speed. Also led team in Runs Scored after the big "2".

CY Young - Brandon League

11 Losses aside, 2.91 1.13 in 160.2 IP meant League kept us in a lot of games we could have otherwise lost.

Rolaids Relief - Joe Nathan

Led league in both Saves & SV %. Also had the best ERA of any "qualified" pitcher. Only Pedro Astacio had a better ERA and he only pitched 2 IP.

Pleasant Surprise - Justin Verlander

Considering I only spent 12m on my rotation, to get a 14-9 performance was quite a nice surprise. :)

Disappointing Performance - Aramis Ramirez

Slugged almost 100 points below card despite favourable park.

Playoff MVP - Albert Pujols

5 HR & 16 RBI was more than 2 other teams combined!

Playoff CY Young - Justin Verlander

Won 2 critical games, and came close to a 3rd.

Playoff Rolaids - Brandon League

2-0 and only 1 run allowed in 8+ IP.

Playoff Surprise - Michael Tucker

Despite an ugly OBP, every time he got on, he seemed to score, and came 2nd in RS for the playoffs behind Pujols.

Playoff Disappointment - Ryan Howard

It is a good thing Pujols carried the offense in the playoffs because Howard was almost invisible.

After recovering from that VERY frustrating end of my season here are my

Team Awards:

MVP - Adam Dunn

34 Hr, 98 RBI, 105 R, .370 OBP for just 2.91 mil. Any questions?

CY Young - Chien-ming Wang

His ERA wasn't pretty (4.61), but his record was: 18-9!

Rolaids Relief - Roberto Hernandez

For .63 mil he delivered as much saves (11) as Meredith.

Pleasant Surprise - Kevin Millar

19 HR, 71 RBI, 79 R, .354 OBP for only 3.43 mil

Disappointing Performance - Mark Scutaro

Only 1 error, but other than that I don't know how he earned his price (4.32 mil)

Playoff MVP - Did I have one? May be David Dejesus with a .364 OBP

Playoff CY Young - Oh well, Roberto Hernandez: 2.1 IP, ERA 0.00, .86 WHIP

Playoff Rolaids - Cal Meredith wth 3.1 IP and an ERA of 0.00

Playoff Surprise - Dmitri Young 1 AB, 1 H, 1RBI

Playoff Disappointment - Jeff Francis (8.53 ERA)

Awards:

MVP - B. J. Ryan

29 saves and pitched more innings than 2 of my SPs

CY Young - Liriano

245 IP with an ERA of 2.90 and 1.08 WHIP, would have been a worthy MVP too

Rolaids Relief - Ryan

Pleasant Surprise - David Wells

6.64 ERA, but 8 wins and only 9 losses for only .75 in Citizen's Bank Park, I will take that anytime

Disappointing Performance - Alex Rios

.245 BA, .309 OBP for 5.10M? At least he was a perfect fielder, so he 'played' to his card in this aspect

'I'll do all what is needed to be done' Award - Amezaga

Well we can certainly see why Hafner won the MVP ... led the league in OPS/RBI/RC & came 2nd only to Beltran in Runs scored.

Interesting how the top 2 players both played on teams with losing records - suggesting that this is more of an individual award, rather than the player that best helped his team. In fact none of the top 5 in MVP voting was on a team that made the playoffs ...

If I get a chance, I will see how many games smokeys Jedi won without Chipper Jones (missed 33 games) ... as maybe he could have been deserving of some MVP Votes. Then again I certainly do not have any problems with Hafner getting the MVP due to his statistical performance, and who knows how many games qksilver would have won if Hafner had missed 30+ games instead of just 9.

Well this just goes to show that Wins has an important role to play. Zambrano won 6 more games than any other SP, and was on the team with the best record - hence his Cy Young result. Mussina who had a better ERA/WHIP and a good 20-9 record finished a distant 4th, even though he was on the same team.

So basically it could be said that Run Support gave Zambrano the CY Young rather than anything he did himself?

Liriano did get some votes, as he probably deserved. An 18-11 record is none too shabby, especially playing on a sub .500 squad, and he pretty much led the league in ERA/WHIP and had an impressive K total, despite pitching 30 less IP than Zambrano.

Nathan got a good tally of the votes due to his 50 saves and key performance on a team relying on good bullpen work, but why exactly did Ryan come in 5th ... unless the amount of IP he put in is an indication.
