Who're your favorite '69 players?

I guess it's not polite to ask for "secrets" w/o revealing any, so here are two of mine:

Willie Davis - Had/have him on three teams. Outperformed his season numbers each time. Good D. Great in the leadoff spot.

Willie Smith - $0.71 and I've got him hitting third in a first base platoon hitting over .325 with an OPS hovering around .800 in a 60 mil league. Mucho bang for the buck.

Anyone else in a sharing mood?

still too scared to share secrets unc, but Ive seen davis used to good effect and get drafted pretty high...didn't have the nerve to grab willie smith but thought his card looked potentially productive. mostly been lucky enough to get the obvious guys so far, but can tell you fregosi, who seemed to be the next best option after petrocelli, was super for a week, then ended up batting just over .200 in sicks and cleveland...cardenas on the other hand has proven to be a very productive hitter with a steady glove...if you bat him low.

for some reason, I just like him. 5'9'' 170 and hits the __ out of the ball. Defense is a little thin, but hasn't seemed to hurt me yet.

Would take him anytime.

Great bargain @ 2B. No power, but good D and hits for average.

Murcer. If you miss on a top RF, then he will still hit .270 with 30+ HRs. At least for me he does.

Clete Boyer: hits around .280 for me, 15-20 homers and great D

Rich Reese: knockin' the cover off the ball for my team in the Met

Cleon Jones: does well for me in '69 and ATG

Ken McMullen: D is a little thin, but his O makes up for it in a bomber park.

Chuck Hartenstein: best kept secret (until now).

Dick Hall $ for $ the best pitcher in the set. Tom Morgan works in a hitters park and is afforadable. Ted Sizemore is an affordable useable option at 2b, Coco Laboy the same at 3rd. Tom Haller at C.

I like Wert as a cheap 3b more than Coco.
