Looks like Raiders91sc took the day off. I guess he doesn't like the idea of proxies!

I have been through live drafts since the beginnings of SOM online gaming, and the one thing that I've learned above all else is
[b:018085613a]
Be Patient![/b:018085613a]

This draft is not moving at an unheard of rate. There will always be players that don't use proxies. There will always be mistakes and screwups. If you are going to play this game for any length of time you'll have to learn to accept the bad along with the good.

Now that I've made my speech, there are things to be dealt with:

1) To the best of my recollection, the clock is always off during the weekend of a Tour event. There may be exceptions to this, but I've not ever participated in a Tour league that had the clock on during a weekend.

2) That said, there is no reason why a draft can't continue over the weekend if everyone uses proxies. And it is true that if a person's time expires someone (anyone) needs to try and make a manual pick in order to get the next person's proxy to fire.

3) Be careful with your picks. While you can drop a pick, it does need to be approved and that takes time. And no one is under any obligation to wait until you get your pick straightened out. If you pick, then drop to pick someone else, that player might be gone by the time your drop is approved. Think about that before you pick and before you drop.

I too have no intention of shepherding this draft to the end but will be able to assist. Let's just take a breath and set those proxies.

Questions

Postby Assmeriten » Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:55 pm

Actually you are not suppose to drop a pick. What time does the clock turn on tomorrow? What time does it turn off for the night? How come people keep taking my proxies? :x Is the clock 2 or 3 hours?

As for draft speed you should have seen how long it took to do the 1 round stadium draft. Never thought we would get that draft done. Course with my round 2 team stinking uo the joint I might have been better off if that draft never did get done. Currently 48 up 54 down 13 games out of first, 10 games out of the wildcard.

Ok as I mentioned earlier I use proxies. I came in and noticed that Raider is up again and since I am on proxies, the draft has been stuck at that selection. I also saw that this group seems to think the time is off during the weekend, and since I couldn't find a rule to the contrary I guess that will stand.

Therefore I will not manually make a selection and skip Raider.

I agree with not skipping anyone on the weekends. However, during the week, I think we should adhere to a 2-hour limit for each pick or be skipped.

Bbrool, if raider has not picked by 10 AM EST, I think you should skip him.

Clock is suppose to be 3 hours. Look at Barnstormers boards for live draft info. :)

Ok, my pick is in...yup, checked out the Barnstormers thread and a 3-hour limit is the precedent. Fine with me, so long as there is some kind of limit, so we can keep this thing moving.

Guys this is not the Barnstormers tour. The clock for the 2007 series is suppose to be 2-hours. I will go back through the earlier league threads and find a rules posting if needed.

Ok it turns out the Randy Johnson missing from my draft sheet is a big deal. If you will notice I now have G. Atkins as my 3rd round pick. It was a mistake on my part, made a selection instead of a proxy, but normally it would never do that.

Going to send Major Deegan a quick heads up to see if he can fix it, in the meantime I am a bit screwed, because if I drop Atkins now I have to wait until he is approved to revise my proxy list. If I do nothing now, once Chong picks my proxies will fire and screw up the draft.

I am going to have to cut Atkins and then clear my entire proxy list right now.
