My earlier concept didn't get the necessary support to eliminate the original concept so lets go back and have a vote:

1)

a) 1 TEAM FROM BOTH AL/NL
b) 2 Teams From Same League
c) 2 Teams From Either League

2)

a) $80M
B) $100M

3) I'm pushing No DH

4) I'm pushing 20 mandatory players per combo.

Under ATG2 I put together 12 combinations of team combining teams that related to each other and then after lottery was run we had a draft of those 12 combo teams.


Examples were Phil A's and Oak A's, NY & SF Gts, Phil Phillies & Pitts Pirates, NY Yankees, Bkln & LA Dodgers. For teams with fewer than 3 teams I combined using some other relationship.

For the 1969 game I would combine primarily on state location or some other basis with the idea being to balance each team.

Though I personally like the combo theme it is obvious that some managers have such a distinct advantage based on where they pick that it may discourage participation.

One possible option is to have a 12 round tournament with each manager using a different combo and the goal is to measure the total wins. The problem is that some managers always bail out.

In the 2005 version of the two team franchise league- a player is the property of the team that he is on-regardless of whether he is on the active roster. This is an interesting concept. But to fully utilize this feature-we would need a higher cap to allow movement back and forth between the big league team and the minors. Perhaps a $100 cap/$80 million roster could be used?

It also encourages trading like crazy. The 2005 version has already had at least a DOZEN trades (check the thread). If you have two main players who play the same position-you don't want the guy to sit-rather you want to trade to shore up roster holes.
