Fenway batting order assistance

Fenway batting order assistance

Postby dbrisner » Sat Dec 10, 2005 12:30 pm

Don't really have a leadoff type hitter for a Fenway '67 team. The most appealing available option is to acquire Boggs at 3B. I really think Schmidt will be a big hammer at home but there are an abudance of pitcher's parks in the league (one Baker, one Griffith and a Dodger '65 in division).

How would u bat these guys? thanks for any suggestions.

I love your OF, SS, and C. Cash is a good value but you may consider upgrading him or trading in doerr for someone at the top of the order. If you have cash, may, and doerr at the bottom of your lineup you will probably not score enough to win in fenway. Who is available at 1b, 2b, and 3b. Schmidt can really hit, you just need to face some leftys for him to really perform.

I'm in your division but here's my .02 worth. Drop Schmidt for Bando, you won't regret that move. Also drop your extra player. Consider Avila or Gilliam at 2B to leadoff and with a another tweak or two you could swap Cash for Cepeda or Murray. I'd be looking at that but I'm far from an expert. Good luck.

Oops. Missed Powell who would also be another good choice for first.

With some creative finagling, i replaced Cash with Cepeda but still haven't come up with a leadoff man. Might consider Gilliam for Doerr. Don't mind giving up defense at the corners but not up the middle. Thanks for the replies and advice. I think I've got a team that can at least defend its home turf very well w/ a staff of DeMaree, Bagby Sr., Petry and Vuckovich and plenty of durable guys in the bullpen.
