Can anyone explain how HAL responds if you use the "quick hook" for a starter?

It's hard to explain but I tend to use it if the match-up is not in my favor. I haven't hesitated using it on higher salary players like Webb, and Lackey.

I'm not an expert, but I read in here once that HAL will pull a pitcher if they give up X runs in an inning with the quick hook turned on. I don't remember the figure. It's not recommended for your better starters because they could give up 3 runs in the 4th inning and get pulled and then you are relying on your pen the rest of the way. If you have a shaky starter that is different. I use it exclusively on setup men.

I'm not an expert either, but I look at the team I am facing that night. If they absolutely crush lefties (for instance), I might set my lefty starters for a quick hook so HAL would stick in my right handed relievers earlier. Seems to work more often than not, but I have a fairly strong pen. I don't use it on relievers, as the "avoid" and Innings limit seem to work better anyway.
