Here's a statline for one of my relief pitchers on a County Stadium '57 team through 21 games.

Charlie Hough R R3 0 0 8 7.2 10 1 6 6 1.18 2.09 4L

Yeah, his WHIP is almost twice that of his ERA. :shock: He's 8 for 8 in save opportunity conversions. :D

:idea: I bring in my backup catcher Jim Hegan as a defensive replacement to catch the knuckleball !!!!

Anybody ever tried Hough as their closer with this kind of success?

That's a crazy ERA. Are you sure he didn't give up a bunch of unearned runs?

nope, unearned runs don't explain it. Charlie just knows how to get himself into jams and wiggle off the hook.
