BJ,

I like it when you say things like that to me ... it always seems to provide a little extra incentive for my players to perform well !!

Good luck everyone; this should be a fun group ... too bad live draft is over. That is my very favorite part of Strat online ... can we just hold drafts, but not play the teams ??

to see league emails from YountFan(AP) with all the goody commentary as in the past. I miss those.

YountFan, I hope you made sure to put Glenn Braggs on your draft card. You never know when he may have to step in again as player/manager.

Penn...great draft site. TSN is missing the boat by not hooking up with you. I would hate to draft any other way after that easy and well conceived method. Thanks man.

YF...you already won the "outsmarted the opposition award" by stealing the keys to Sean's stadium without him catching you!! I think he's still walking around somewhat dazed..."but that's MY stadium..."

Sykes...I'm sure your going to amaze 11 managers with a monster run scoring team of .75 centers...can't wait to see it.

Jablowmi...somehow (and I really don't know how this always happens) 11 other managers stepped a little to the side and left you to create a monster team.

Yep...this is going to be an awesome season!!

I was wondering what the vets thought of the draft. What were some of the worst and best picks? I dont usually get Butler or Daniels 4th and 5th in autodrafts. On the other hand, I have got some players much lower in auto draft than they went live.

In particular I am wondering if anyone thinks I picked anyone higher up than they deserved. I definitely waited too long for pitchers. I was hoping to get Steib at the top of the 6th. Should have known better. Is he officially the best value high end pitcher in the game?

The 1 (and even 2) SS, 2b and CF went even faster than in autodraft, but that is to be expected. I think in most auodrafts, everyone shoots for Sandberg, Doran, Whitaker or Randolph (and I usually walk away with a less popular 2 fielding 2B in the teens)

Braggs is not on my card but maybe Jim Rice will be sounding off this season.

Rice Holds Out

Postby YountFan » Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:00 pm

Fenway (YF) - Jim Rice announced today that he will not be reporting to the Farts tomorrow. "I ain't playin' fo' no team called the Farts...even if the play in freakin' Fenway."

YountFan has been meeting with Rice's agent all day and the talks are going no where. "I think he's mad because Strawberry is making more money. I'm trying to be reasonable, but Rice better report or he won't get paid at all."

As expected the Farts fans are burning up sports talk radio with most in siding with Rice. "Only a dipwad like YountFan would name a team the Farts." "YountFan YOU STINK!" "YountFan, how did that idiot become owner of our team." "Farts, I guess they'll be stinkin' up the joint." "Bring back Muttonhead, at least he could spell."

In other national news...

(AP) Neighbors of Bostons venerable Fenway Park are complaining about a new strange odor eminating from the ballfield. "Ya cahnt even pahk yah cah in the yahd without smellin it" complained one longtime neighbor who refused to be identified. Nobody seems certain about what may have changed, but one thing is certain...something stinks in Beantown.

Off the wire from Armed Forces Press, this hidden item from page 17, paragraph 6:

In apparently the first instance of blast fence training conducted by Jim Burroughs, the general manager of the A-10 Warthogs was spotted walking dazedly past the top-secret airfield used as a practice facility by A-10. When asked what he was doing there, all the general manager could utter was - "Rick Manning? He is a great player. Awesome glove. Above average arm. Why shouldn't we have drafted him?"

Team Owner and field boss Jim Burroughs was questioned as well, and all he would state was, "Look, we ponied up 1.5 million bones for Dale Murphy. Why in the world would we pay Rick Freaking Manning 500 thousand bones to patrol the real estate that Dale Murphy will secure for 162 games? Any general manager of mine that makes that kind of incomphrensible decision had better get his resume' dusted off."

When it was pointed out to Jim that Rick can play 1 defense at a corner outfield spot as well, Jim just said, "Well, duh!!!! My job is to run a team and capture a championship. Are you gonna stand in my way or am I going to have to introduce you to blast fence training as well?" At that point, the interrogation ended.
