that's fine for ya'll in the east...I set proxies at 1am pst as we were sitting on my next two picks most of the night my time. if clock is 8am (5am pst!) to 8p, Im at a pretty fair disadvantage out west. I see the other west coasters are either earlier risers, or set more proxies, but skipping a round and a half of picks is punishment enough. I hate holding things up, but ya gotta sleep sometime.

[quote:b3e0b8232d="he's meat"]I see the other west coasters are either earlier risers, or set more proxies...[/quote:b3e0b8232d]
and the answer is... b). set more proxies!
"load em up, load em up, waaaaay up" :)

Meat, the AM clock begins at 10AM ET, 7AM PT, which still may be too early for west coasters, but midnight ET (when the clock goes off) is LATE for east coasters. Either way it's a pain for every coaster either in morning or evening.

In the spirit of self-admonishment... the draft waited on me for an hour last night because I turned proxies off, considering I was monitoring the site to see if it was my pick seemingly every 5 minutes... then I fell asleep on the couch... zzzzz... I need Major Deegan to add a feature whereby a sleep monitoring bracelet integrated with the "proxy toggle" would prevent such future delays. :) Also, when I was monitoring the draft yesterday I got tied up on a waork call, and wouldn't you know, I went 40 minutes into my clock before I could get off the call... even though I had another 80 minutes, I'm still mad that I wasted the 40... :(

You can never set "too many" proxies once we hit rounds 11-12-13, etc., because as He's Meat found out... being skipped for a round in a half is painful, better to at least gotten SOMEONE you'd wanted (via an over-extended proxy list that maybe wasn't precisely planned to one's liking) than to get NOBODY by being skipped, right ;)

Lastly, I hope nobody is taking this personally... what's done is done, managers have a right (did I say duty?) to express frustration on the boards, just like each of us has a right (did I say sickness) in proceeding in live drafts any way that we want... some are all proxies, some partial, some no proxies... yet it's clear to me, that we can certainly improve the speed of this draft, especially now that it's round 15+ :)

and I hear ya wj....nothing sucks worse than clicking back again and again to see a loooong stall. didn't think we'd fly this fast, and we chewed thru the next two rounds like lightening, which is nice, unless you haven't set proxies thru the next couple. they're there now, fwiw.

How's this for a contentious factoid...?

Average time spent per pick... this is the average elapsed time between when the previous manager picked their player and when the listed manager selected a player. Unesid's average is skewed by the day+ wait in round one... his average AFTER that is about 10 minutes per pick!

HH:MM:SS--- Manager
-------------------------------
1:52:11 --- UNESID
0:47:37 --- GKHD11A
0:43:05 --- COFFEEHOLIC
0:41:25 --- HESMEAT
0:36:50 --- ROB94509
0:35:34 --- NEVDULLY
0:25:07 --- RATIOMAN
0:24:53 --- LDANRED
0:14:36 --- WJANSSEN
0:11:54 --- DANIELZ
0:10:35 --- NTEXASWIDOWMAKER
0:02:33 --- BUDO73

Average is 33min, 52sec which equates to over 6 hours per round.

About 10 of y'all (all except Budo) will hate me for this... he's averaged just 2 minutes and 33 seconds for each pick- now that's proxying! I ask for forgiveness after the fact rather than permission beforehand for obvious reasons ;)

I win I win!

10:1 we discover a direct negative correlation between short draft time and winning percentage.

OK, the metric without round one and normalizing for any lengthy delay for the three off-clock overnight periods since round 2.

That is impressive work! What do you do for a living?

BTW, I deleted my post which you quoted because I didn't want it to be misinterpreted as instigating a contentious board. I believe we all share a love for a great hobby and I think if we all sat around a table of wings we would knock this draft out in a couple of hours and come away with 11 friends.

It can be frustrating to keep hitting the refresh button for naught, but I for one AM having fun because I keep assuming that when someone is delayed it is because life is calling them. And I hope all of you are too.
