Unbalanced schedules

Does anyone know how the schedule is determined. I noticed that it happens that I play the first place team in another division 15 times and the last placed teams 9 each. If you number teams starting with the team on the first line in the East (at the start of the season) being one and the team on the last line in the West as 12, does anyone know the schedule i.e. team 1 plays team 8 x amount of times?

You play 24 against the teams in your division and play 12 against all but two of the other eight teams. (You play only 9 against two teams.)
