Settings When Your Closer Isn't Your Best RP?

I'm doing pretty well so far with this Wrigley team (48 games into the season):

THELONIOUS MONKS

But I've toyed with different manager settings, trying to get optimal usage out of my pen. I've of course got Gordon as setup both ways. He's a gem. But I can't seem to get much work out of Hoffman or Cerda. I had Hoffman originally set to close both ways. Then I had Hoffman set to close vs. righties, and Cerda against lefties. Then more recently I've just left the closer options blank. Gordon's getting mucho innings, and that's great. But however I've set the closer settings, HAL seems to more or less equally spread around the balance of the available innings. In fact, Elmer Dessens and then Buddy Groom are the next leading innings eaters in my pen so far - not something I'm particularly happy with when Hoffman and Cerda are just sitting there eating sunflower seeds...I have not marked their player cards in any way. Any suggestions?

Gordon: Check off "Avoid using before 7th inning"
Set-Up both ways.

Cerda: Check off "Avoid using before 9th inning"

Hoffman: Check off "Avoid using before the 8th inning"

Leave closer blank.

Also leave Groom and Dessen's cards blank.

btw- Alot will depend upon it being a save situation too...

No restrictions on Gordon. You want your 7 mil worth from him, 160-200 IP.

Restrictions on any directional cheap pitcher (HAL is fairly effective in the 8th and 9th, often this strategy backfired in extra innings.) You can actually get some pretty good numbers from guys like Wickman, Walker, even Halsey.
