drop option during live draft

could someone describe how this option works?

It only exists in case of a screw up. You can't use it to drop a player that you later regret taking. If you are in an AL only draft and mistakenly draft an NL player, then you should drop the NL player as quickly as you can and ask others to approve the drop, then repick with an AL player.
