Here's a compromise. Keep your sluggers, but like mtarbell said, upgrade a starter. Wickman is available and will do fine. Get him from Saito and use the $ to pickup Bonderman, Maddux or Cook from one of your cheap SP's.

I certainly did not mean to imply that there is anything wrong with a 4 man rotation. I only meant that if you were in a position where you were unable to put a quality 4 man rotation together, I would not worry about mixing a few *SP's in with the Non*'s so you could make the best possible staff.

In other words, I would not sacrifice the quality of my staff only to insure that I had a 4 man rotation.

No disrespect felt here. I favor a 4 man rotation and plan my draft accordingly. Usually, I find 3 out of 4 that fit my stadium needs and then make an educated guess. With a 5 man, similarly I find that I'll find 4 out of 5 and that the 5 cost more. I'm sure there are bargains with non-*SP. I feel I can more easily find hitters to fill any line-up holes rather than pitchers to fill holes in my rotation.

vs RHP, I'd switch:

Young/Kendall

and

Hafner/Pujols

Kendall can bunt & hit/run when needed after Young/Figgins/Roberts

Hafner should protect Pujols in the line-up

vs LHP:

switch Young/Kendall

and

drop A-Rod to 5th behind Hafner/Pujols

again, Kendall can bunt & hit/run behind speed with great obp

Hafner/Pujols/A-Rod/Young offer better protection down the line-up

(This is in response to the trade offer B-Rock received but the trade offer post disappeared while I was composing. How did it come out, B-Rock?)

Lee has 5 more BPHR's than Petitte which given your stadium, along with another Yankee and a Cell in the division, won't help your cause. Right now the balances of your hitters combines to Even overall. The trade as proposed would take the total to 1L. You have 10 RHP and 4 LHP in your division so no advantage there.

As far as defense goes, Young 2(-2)e5>>> Vlad 4(-4)e15 and A-Rod 3e27 >>> Atkins 4e20 does you no favors.

If you get Cabrera from Hafner to DH then you only have one LHH in your linup (although with your 2 switch-hitters and the fact that your division foes pitchers add up to a total of 7L in their balance, this is a minor point).

Those are the negatives. I'll leave it to someone else to find the positives.
It sounds like you have someone on the line who wants to deal for the sake of dealing since it is so early in the season. Try and get a LXR from him.
