I like that idea buzz. Very nice to see the new blood from that other game dive into Shifting Sands. :D Gives me something to research over the holiday weekend too. :D :D

Expansion Players

Postby Buzzville » Thu Dec 22, 2005 12:42 pm

I admit I haven't done the research either, but guys like Sammy Taylor and Richie Ashburn and Bob Miller would be available, for example, because they played on the 1962 New York Mets.

oh, I get it now. didn't think there were any ACTUAL expansion teams like the 62 mets, la angels, houston colt 45s, or the senators/rangers/twins. also would include "original" expos/padres,royals/pilots and bluejays/mariners. I suppose somewhere in atg2 there might be a stray rockie, marlin, d'back or devil ray. think we better put together some sort of list since we're talking minimum 24 players to make that rule work.

MBW... you know I am ALWAYS up for defending my title, but I need to see some alteration in Foggy's rule. In addition to the limitations placed on having to use a 3/4 at THREE positions, the ruling taking out all ones/twos at those positions is rough. Why can't they be usable as a DH or at another position?

Right now eliminate...

SS - 53
2B - 47
CF - 78

Rule is way too limiting. I could see the 3/4 in CF, there are usable options for sure (13 guys as a 3 over 3M)... at SS there are only 3 players as a 3 over 3M (dJohnson, Gazella, Dykes) ... 2B only 6 players as a 3 over 3M(Lopes, Avila, Dykes, JRobinson, Doyle, Steinfeldt).

Guys like Schoendienst, McDougald, H Wagner, Lazzeri, Haas, Ott, Simmons, McBride, Hendu, Ru Jones, Alou, Snodgrass,Devore can all be used at other positions.

It's fine to have to give away defense, but the offensive options that coincide with it are just too narrow.

I understand the point. One of the difficulties in allowing those guys on rosters is that hal may very well use them at the position they are not supposed to be used at.

What if we required the total range for the three spots to total 9 and none lower than a 2? This needs some work as to the details but just trying to find a way to make this more workable.
