Is [b:3296c0f97c]Carlos[/b:3296c0f97c] Gonzalez still available? :P

[quote:3296c0f97c]You all seem to agree that there will be a lot of talent available in that first FA draft so if it's deep, why not take advantage by giving up 1 pick for a peremptive strike on the following year's draft when things won't be as deep. [/quote:3296c0f97c]

But the guys available in that first round of the FA Draft have a little more certainty than the guys being taken above.

To be honest, besides the first two picks, there wasn't really any other player that I was upset at missing out on compared to the FIRST round players available in the FA Draft.

As Deep as it may be, the "good" guys will go fast and it is NOT a Serpentine Draft.

JMHO though. Not at all saying that it is the ONLY one.

Round 2:
Also, I am interested in picking up an additional late prospect pick here. I am willing to deal a 5th round FA pick which should be helpful to someone "going for it" next year. LMK if interested.

Actually Niners I was hoping Adam Miller would fall to me due to his injury issues this year, I have enough LHPs & Gio looks a little iffy now. I needed a RHP in case Harden never makes it back to form.

There is a ton of good competition for slots in TB's rotation in the next 2-3 years but Davis has some pretty good peripherals, I think in 2009 he could be in their mix & might even get a mid-season callup next year if he starts in AAA. We'll see.

Not a bad way to look at it in my opinion. One of the reasons I took McCutchen was that theres no one blocking his way to the starting CF job in Pittsburgh.[/quote:166c1a1130]

you don't think mclouth will keep in out?[/quote:166c1a1130]

Not from what I've read --

McLouth keep out McCutchen? Not real likely. McClouth is a nice 4th OF but not a long-term starting CF & is much worse defensively than McCutchen right now. As soon as McCutchen shows he can hit big league pitching consistently the job will be his, maybe even before that...
