Doomed?

Is there any remote chance, given the quality of competition I face, that this team might lose fewer than 100 games? Any chance for improvement? Suggestions welcome.

Here are your numbers:

vs RH
OBP 0.409
SLG 0.439
OPS 0.848
HR 3.9
PBHRs 39

vs LH
OBP 0.411
SLG 0.431
OPS 0.842
HR 3.3
PBHRs 43

I would look for some more BP HRs given that you are playing a lot of games in extreme hitters parks. Your platoon at DH (I assume this is a DH league) could be better, how about Minch or Covington from the LH side and Johnson/Brouhard/Roenicke from the RH side?

You want at least 50 BPHRs both sides IMHO.

On the picthing side I would consider a hard LH like Podres or Bennett to pitch at Yankee 56, also get a LH RP.

D up the middle is OK. Not sure who you will lead off, Ott I guess, you might look at options there.

Thanks for the input. I've just replaced Kuntz with Roenike, he will platoon with Oliva in right. Brouhard would be good, but I'm $320k away from him.

vRHP:

Ott, LF
Oliva, RF
Stargell, DH
Powell, 1B
Bando, 3B
Dawson, CF
Freehan, C
Fernandez, SS
Doran, 2B

vLHP:

Ott, LF
Doran, 2B
Dawson, CF
Powell, 1B
Roenicke, RF
Bando, 3B
Freehan, C
Stargell, DH
Fernandez, SS

I do need a lefty reliever, and am looking into some things.

I have been disappointed in Oliva before, I would consider other LH options and use the $$ elsewhere.

Best of luck, sschu

I like Oliva, he did well for an opponant in MFL4, the previous incarnation of our private league, and is doing well for me on another team right now. However, I have just replaced him with Mincher and Dave Henderson.

vRHP:
1. Ott, Mel (L) RF
2. Doran, Bill (S) 2B
3. Stargell, Willie (L) LF
4. Powell, Boog (L) 1B
5. Bando, Sal (R) 3B
6. Mincher, Don (L) DH
7. Dawson, Andre (R) CF
8. Freehan, Bill (R) C
9. Fernandez, Tony (S) SS

vLHP:
1. Ott, Mel (L) LF
2. Dawson, Andre (R) CF
3. Henderson, Dave (R) RF
4. Roenicke, Gary (R) DH
5. Bando, Sal (R) 3B
6. Powell, Boog (L) 1B
7. Freehan, Bill (R) C
8. Fernandez, Tony (S) SS
9. Doran, Bill (S) 2B

$2.18m reamaining to address pitching. Thanks again for your input. I may have a 70-win club now.

We shall see. My bats will be as weasels ripping your flesh, and my pitching will leave the taste of burnt weenie sandwich in your mouth.
