Any suggestions for first 80's team?

Durham is a more consistent performer than Joyner. Durham has better OB and usually better SLG%. It more than makes up for the defense when compared to Joyner. He can also steal a base or two which will come in handy in your park. I would save the cash. You always need to make moves once the season is under way. Its nice to have some money to play with or facilitate a trade. I dont think I would swap Singleton for the players you mentioned. He has a nice OB and some power too.

Possible trade proposals:

1) Singleton and .75 rp for Dwight Evans (creates a 3-4-2 lineup)

2) Kal Daniels and Richie Zisk for Evans (creates a 3-4-2 lineup)

3) Danny Tartabull and Steve Farr for Evans (keeps 3-3-3 lineup)

Goal being to put a -4 arm in RF with 1 range, who still has high ob% and slg%.

Tentative rotations of opponents looks to be 16 LHP and 32 RHP. Vast majority of relievers are righty. I'm leaning towards proposal #3.

This offense looks really promising to me.

You've got productive hitters in every lineup spot--unless you have really bad luck you're going to score some runs. Don't be in a rush to make a trade with this team. Dwight Evans is a great player but I'd be inclined to stick with what you have and see what years you get. Don't underestimate Singleton. Three of his years are monster seasons and if you get one of those you've got a real bargain. I think you can afford to wait and see what you've got.

I would, however, somewhat adjust your lineups just to put your high OPB guys near the top. You'll need to fine-tune them as you learn the years and get a sense of who has good OBP this year, who has good power, who can hit RHP, who can hit LHP, etc. Sometimes these are very different from year to year for each player--for example, Puckett has power some years but not others, and Durham hits RHP better most years, but one year he's better vs LHP.

But, for starters, I'd be inclined to bat Ozzie and Randolph 1-2 against both sides. If one of them can't hit well against RHP or LHP, slide him to the bottom of the order. I'd suggest batting Daniels further down to make use of his power--though he could be a good #2. Beyond that, it almost doesn't matter at this stage. A lot of these guys are ideal #3 hitters and that's a compliment! Try moving Singleton higher than 7th--somewhere between 3rd and 5th--to take advantage of his high OBP. Overall, don't obsess about lineup order early in the season. Most of these hitters could hit anywhere from 3rd to 9th on your team, depending on the year they are in. You're still learning your team and you can tweak the lineup as you get to know the characteristics of the years your players are in.

Keep Zisk for LF. He will be consistent. Actually, I wouldnt cut any of the RP you have. Kipper would be the least of the group, but nothing wrong with starting with all of them. You will cut 1 or 2 as the season goes on. To sum up, this is a team I would start the season with.

I cringe at your lack of D, if you get no offense you will be leaving your pitching out to dry.

Get - arms in OF and gets some 1s in that infield. Evans for Daniels/Zisk would have been awesome but I doubt the other person would trade Evens.

A -5 in OF is a hidden gem in this game that few understand ;)
