The "all around" guys

Postby honestiago1 » Mon Dec 26, 2005 10:43 am

Maybe some of the vets can identify who the best "all around" players are in the 80s pool. I'm talkin' guys that hit (or simply produce runs), field, run, and have either a decent H&R or Bunt rating.

I'd say Dw Murphy is one of those guys. Lots of walks, can steal a base, great glove, bunting A, and can run. Average is pretty low, however.

Toby Harrah? Larkin? Who else?

How about guys like Gwynn, Raines, Rickey, Doran, Yount, Trammell, and Whitaker?

ALL AROUND BY POSITION:

C - Fisk
1B - W. Clark
2B - Doran
SS - Yount
3B - Brett
OF - Gwynn
CF - E. Davis
OF - Rickey
DH - Raines

I'd take this lineup every day of the week, wouldn't you ??? Snap out of it, Sean, wipe that drool off your chin !! Wake up !!

Harrah started out well for me but eventually started to suck. Same with Madlock too. Actually...I think no matter who I pick up...they're all in their bad year. And guys are dropping players every day...for cryin out loud it seems like my whole league has bad player cards. I don't think I like this game as much as I did when I started. :(

It's amazing how many players dump during a slump, figuring that the bad card is finally showing up, with the belief that past good performance was lucky rolls, rather than remembering back to the good run, with the belief that that the current slump is just unlucky rolls.

But I tend to hold onto players too long, especially if my team is +.500.

Hey there...I was thinking I held onto Madlock and Harrah too long. Actually Madlock wasn't doing too bad...I just had to drop him to afford someone else. But Harrah started to suck.

I did change my settings on manager strategy for relief pitchers though. I was doing ok until I put them in certain roles and restricted their use in other situations. Then I started losing so I eliminated all that and am just going to le HAL run my relief pitching.
