Is there any interest in an 80s auction league?

A couple more important points I didn't see in the rules:
As I recall, there are minimum opening bids and minimum raises when bidding on a player.

If the listed player has a TSN salary of $3 mil or less, the minimum opening bid is .3
You can raise the bid of such a player in .1 increments until his auction price reaches the $3 mil, then I believe (and Penn, please feel free to set me straight here) the minimum raising increment is .5

If the player has a TSN salary of $3 mil or more, then the minimum opening bid is 1.0 with raises allowable in .5 increments.

So, you can't open Dale Murphy for .3 or raise him only .1 at a time.

If you've tried to bid on George Brett who Penn opened at 10.0, don't expect to be able to bid 10.1. The site will reject your bid.

Have fun!

Penn - If I have it wrong, let me know and I'll edit or retract this post.

OK, so I opened my 6 players. Now I try to place bids, for example, to bid $3 mill on Ozzie. It keeps telling me I must open 4 players if I don't have 26 total before I can bid.

I'm confused. What is the process to bid on players that others have opened up? Is it waiting until all 12 managers have entered before we can place bids? Does the 24 hour clock for a player start the minute you enter them?

I'm sure it will get clearer as I go. Thanks guys,

Sean

I've got the same problem. I've opened 6 and can't bid.

Penn,

two things:

1. I opened 7 players today -- do I need to drop one of them and wait till tomorrow?

2. The 1st is a Sunday -- if no drafts will go on next weekend, you need to bump the 31st and 1st draft closes out to the 2nd and 3rd. I think in an earlier post you said you'd bump it to the 1st and 2nd.

I didn't realize this would be starting so soon. I won't have internet access this coming weekend (Friday through Sunday) because of New Years. Anyway that we can suspend players closing next weekend? Otherwise I'm not sure I'll be able to sufficiently compete with so many players closing this weekend.

Mav,

read back up through the thread. Penn is going to stop the clock for the weekend (Sat/Sun).

If it needs to be stopped for a little longer period of time, he can probably make it happen.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make a bid on a player

I will look into the problems, I think I made a change after the last auction to block some stuff and I forgot to remove that change.

I have fixed so we can now rebid on players.

One other thing is that you need to refresh your browser or THEBEST under Auction Refresh, bottom left corner. This will refresh the list of players in the top left corner so you can select and bid on opened players.
