Strat CD Rom game question

Strat CD Rom game question

Postby Roosky » Mon Dec 26, 2005 2:29 pm

I have version 8.0, I got some seasons for christmas and did not know they are no longer using disks. They will ship me the disks but my question is whether I should just upgrade to 10.0. I do not have the internet at work and that is were I usually play so do you need the internet to be able to use the product code? What should I do?

You do need the internet to activate individual seasons with 10.0, but once activated, you don't need the internet anymore. Unless you want to netplay, of course.

So, you play SOM at work, do you . . .

Never had a Strat CD Rom game. I usually just play Strat with the Sporting News leagues. Do you use the CD Rom game for strategy?

Also, what is netplay?

A lot of us started in the 60s & 70s with the actual board game with paper & dice. The CD-ROM game is just the computer version of that. Many old time board gamers (like myself) also (or exclusively) like to play on the computer as well. You can create leagues of your own or just replay seasons. It's great fun.

Netplay is two people playing the CD-ROM game over the internet. If you'd like to try that, there is a netplay league starting next month. There may be a slot or two available. Look for the "Netplay III" thread in the "Individual Leagues" forum.

That depends on personal preference. I suggest reliving your youth. What season really impacted you as a kid?

As a young adolescent growing up in New England, I remember quite vividly how a light hitting shortstop with a kid's name (Bucky) abruptly put an end to my beloved Red Sox's season with one swing of the lumber. I am currently replaying that entire 1978 season.

Above is a link to the SOM store. They are having a sale on some seasons until the end of this month. I suggest picking up the latest version with last season's cards included and then selecting individual season based on personal preference.

Yeah and I JUST bought v10 a couple of weeks ago. :x Guess I'll have to upgrade. Will the rosters that I purchased already be compatible with v11? I'd hate to repurchase those too.

Yes, the rosters from previous verisons are always compatible with the new computer game. I bought v10 a cfew months ago and was able to use some v6 seasons I had from years ago.

I wonder what's in v11 that isn't in v10 . . .
