I received a letter today from a TSN rep. asking me to change the name of one of my teams because somebody in the league complained that it was offensive. Unfortunately, I do not know to which team they were referring. They listed a number for the league which did not match any of the numbered leagues I am in. I await clarification. Meanwhile, I remain uncertain as to the team, there are so many possibilities among the teams I currently have going. I guess MasterRace is the most likely, although my Father"s Father was jewish in Nazi Germany until he got out with his kids to accept a chairmanship at Yale. My Father served with the 45th Infantry in WW 2, so I feel confident that I am no Nazi sumpathizer. Furthermore, my theme teams usually get killed, so it ought to be a cathartic experience for any playing against them. There is also the Kissimmee Asses2...but that season is almost over, so a complaint this late seems unlikely. I have a team in the Alphabet League called the Atlanta Oreos, referring to the letters A and O represented. I was eating cookies when I came up with that, and my GM is Chief Nabisco, so my intent seems obvious, but it now occurs to me that the term Oreo can be used, usually by Blacks, referring to other blacks who are, in their opinion, somehow trying to be "white" and thus betraying their racial heritage...black on the outside, white on the inside. I am not black, and I really never understood this, but that seems number two on the list of likelys. I alwys thought the Boston Beaners was a somewhat daring nickname for my all Hispanic theme team, but nobody complained. Everything else I have going right now seems pretty tame. Hackensack SmallBalls4 ? Mansfield Cleavage? The latter refers to the appearance of the letter W, another of my alphabet series theme teams. What do you think? Which is the most offensive?
