Berkman has been great for me in middle of the road hitters parks. Woody Williams is a pretty good value IMO. He can have a bad year, like anyone else in that price range, but I have had him lead staffs in victories as the cheapest starter. Percival is good. I have had him in the top five in save % 3 or 4 times(and 1st once) as a ninth inning only closer. J Walker is almost always good for $.66. Bernie Williams a solid DH vs lhp's and allows you to use an injury guy from the left side, as Bernie has 600 PA's and is OK vs rhp's. I have been using Saenz lately, and he slugs .600 even in Petco for me. Brad Penny and Harden have had big years for me more than once. Jake Peavy is consistently very good for under $5.00. I have had him win 20 once and 15+ 2 or three times. kevin Gregg has had nice seasons for me out of the pen.

Two of the guys I think are bad values are Schilling and Beltre, even though they can be fine in certain circumstances. The problem is that for the dollars you spend on them, they should be good in all situations. Beltre is terrible in the clutch, so you have to bat him third, he's not very good against lefties, so he needs to go down in the lineup (where once again the clutch problem arises). He's great in Wrigley or Fenway, but I don't think I would spend the cash on him anywhere else.

Schilling is the same. He should be great everywhere, but you almost can't pitch him in an HR park.

I feel like expensive guys should be good everywhere and under almost any circumstance and these two have too many limitations to justify the cost.

To expect high priced guys to be good everywhere is silly IMO. Just like Ichiro has more value in a pitching park vs a hitting park, so does Scilling. He was awesome for me twice in pitching parks, 1st or 2nd in victories both times. Almost all high priced players are not equal values in all parks, some like Schilling are just a little more extreme than others.

To me, the biggest value in the 05 game other than the SP (which is to be treated like an exhaustable commodity, once it's gone, it's gone) is Geoff Blum.

Best nickel backup 2B believe it or not especially from the left side, excellent platoon at 3B, even plays a bit of LF and 1B.

I always try to get him, I usually hold on to him even if I can't use him in a platoon just because I feel better having him on my roster than him finding a way to someone else's.
