Most loved/hated 2005

Postby Halo Don » Thu Dec 29, 2005 4:06 pm

Only first 2005 team but here is my opinion so far.

Likes: Peavy, Vazquez (especially in pitchers parks), Vladdy had 30 HR But sub 270 BA at 90 games in Angels stadium.

Dislikes: Konerko couldn't hit, Eric Chavez hurt too much. Buehrle gives up lots of hits.

Favorites/Losers (for the price)

Postby malec » Wed Jan 04, 2006 1:54 pm

[b:9cccf390b8]5 favorites for the money:[/b:9cccf390b8]

Chipper Jones (when in Coors) cheap and hits 40 to 50 HRs

Abreu--- always hits/gets on base--- only draw is 4 fielding

Mora---does it all from #2 or #3 spot in order---too bad he's a 3 fielder

Nevin--- always has hit for me in three leagues

Burke --- always seems to be in top 5 in hitting in leagues I've played in.

Bell--- a cheap seviceable hitter/fielder at 3B (Polanco for about the same price has done well for me in hitter's park particularly)

Olmedo Saenz at first against left (platoon with Pickering perhaps)

[b:9cccf390b8]5 losers:[/b:9cccf390b8]

Hitters over $10 (e.g., Beltre) --- I've never seemed to get as much output/value as expected for the money. I'd rather have two $5 mil guys instead.

Jimmy Thome

Brad Wilkerson

Jimmy Rollins

Bret Boone

I like Berkman. What sucks about him though for the money is that he can really suck vs. LHP.

Scott Rolen on someone's hated list???????????

Postby Camp Westwoods » Tue Jan 10, 2006 11:37 am

Here were my numbers for Scott Rolen at Fenway
583AB, 124 R, 33 2B, 51 HR, 145 RBI, 85 BB, .333 BA, .672 SLG, .426 OBP

Also, for my money, Francisco Rodriguez is a LOCK DOWN closer.

Likes:
Dotel (he put up these numbers for me in Angels stadium 5w-1l-32s 1.94 ERA 1.23 Whip, not bad for a sub $2M player)
Worrell (again sub $2M player with good numbers in Angels stadium 2w-2l-2s 60+ IP 2.97 ERA 1.14 Whip)
Rowand (consistant production in a pitchers park and only 1 error, but a bit pricy for not great offense)

Hates:
Chavez (hurt too much not very productive for me)
Konerko (horrible)

Davannon/Saenz dh platoon
Edmonds at SBC
Beltre

M Rivera
Renteria
Crawford (horrible sb %)

:D :D :D
David Ortiz (seems to outperform his numbers)
Pedro Martinez (it almost seems like the strat people made a mistake when they priced him, he should be like $1 million more)
Bobby Abreu (same here, way better than ichiro)
Mark Kotsay (solid)
Zach Greinke (if you don't need * pitchers, he's your man)
Eric Gagne (honestly, he's fine...lots of innings too)
RJ & Santana (quite obviously the two best players in the game)

Todd Helton (go ahead, throw your money away)
Roy Oswalt (mediocre)
Joe Mauer (why?)
Doug Mirabelli (it's too bad they don't have a passed balls category in the record book, he was on pace for about 60 before i got rid of him)
Jimmy Gobble (I just had him for his humerous moniker, then out of nowhere the computer brought him in for the last 3.2 innings of an 18-inning game, during which he gave up 8 runs and blew 3 saves)

one more thing, don't replace Jimmy Gobble with Dennys Reyes either. for some reason he was pitching and balked in the winning run, thanks douchebag. I guess you shouldn't trust pitchers named after restaurant chains (although I hear Waffle-House Jones is a steal).
