Heil HAL! All German theme team

Funny you should mention about an all-Jewish team. I attempted one in '69 (well, almost since there are only 9 Jewish players available in that league). I locked up Epstein, Norm Miller, Scheinblum, Carew (not Jewish, but his wife is and they celebrate all the holidays), Dave Roberts, Holtzman and Drabowsky (Roberts and Drabowsky are 1/2 Jewish, put them together, what a relief pitching Jew!). But, the Portnoy Complainers missed out on Horlen and Shamsky, so it's not perfect.

BTW, it's good to see the Master Race doesn't discriminate, since they have Yeager catching (he converted to Judaism). And in ATGII, you could put together a decent rotation: Mayer, Holtzman, Horlen and some guy named Koufax!

I received a letter today from a TSN rep. asking me to change the name of one of my teams because somebody in the league complained that it was offensive. Unfortunately, I do not know to which team they were referring. They listed a number for the league which did not match any of the numbered leagues I am in. I await clarification. Meanwhile, I remain uncertain as to the team, there are so many possibilities among the teams I currently have going. I guess MasterRace is the most likely, although my Father"s Father was jewish in Nazi Germany until he got out with his kids to accept a chairmanship at Yale. My Father served with the 45th Infantry in WW 2, so I feel confident that I am no Nazi sumpathizer. Furthermore, my theme teams usually get killed, so it ought to be a cathartic experience for any playing against them. There is also the Kissimmee Asses2...but that season is almost over, so a complaint this late seems unlikely. I have a team in the Alphabet League called the Atlanta Oreos, referring to the letters A and O represented. I was eating cookies when I came up with that, and my GM is Chief Nabisco, so my intent seems obvious, but it now occurs to me that the term Oreo can be used, usually by Blacks, referring to other blacks who are, in their opinion, somehow trying to be "white" and thus betraying their racial heritage...black on the outside, white on the inside. I am not black, and I really never understood this, but that seems number two on the list of likelys. I alwys thought the Boston Beaners was a somewhat daring nickname for my all Hispanic theme team, but nobody complained. Everything else I have going right now seems pretty tame. Hackensack SmallBalls4 ? Mansfield Cleavage? The latter refers to the appearance of the letter W, another of my alphabet series theme teams. What do you think? Which is the most offensive?

I had a team called the Santa Monica Lewinskys in 2002 and no one complained about the name. True to form, they made it to the finals before they blew game 7.

So I have been informed that it was the Master Race that I have to change. Henceforth, they will be called the Germans. Hilarious.

I visited Germany a few years ago with my then wife, kids , and parents. The German people were unfailingly gracious, and there was only one mention of the war that was somewhat bitter. We visited Rotenberg, which is an ancient walled city, beautiful and fascinating, but heavily damaged during the war. Coincidentally, it was my Father's division that levelled the city toward the end of the war. They would come to a town, and demand that the citizenry come out, and turn over their weapons and surrender. If they did, the town was left alone. If they did not, they called in the artillery. This was because up to the very end of the war, there were German snipers inflicting casualties. I also find it interesting to note that for literally years after the war there was guerrilla/terrorist activity going on perpetrated by unrepentant nazis, something to remember when we observe these problems in Iraq.
