Mark Eichhorn only allowed one hit in nearly three innings of superb relief last night. Conveniently it was a single, which allowed the tying run to score and stole the victory from starter Jimmy Key. Now 2-0 on the season, Eichhorn made a bold prediction between his swigs of Molson. "I'm going to win Rookie of the Year," he told reporters, "and if they ever let me close, I'll win the Fireman award too." When asked to comment on the situation, award frontrunner Jose Canseco said, "Some players are acting a little to big for their britches, but I'm not into naming names."

After an epic 0-for-21 start to the season, Dave Kingman got his first yesterday. "I stopped trying to hit the crap out of the ball and began using the advantages of the park," Kingman said. In this case he hit a Fly(LF)X to Mickey Hatcher, who with a defense rating of 4e10 couldn't get to the ball and then missed the cutoff man. Hatcher blamed the Metrodome ceiling for the disastrous play. "This was never a problem in LA," remarked Hatcher. "I could actually see the ball and my knees didn't hurt." This could well be Hatcher's last season in Minnesota.

Did the Braves play last night, or were they just left out of the box scores becasue they are so pathetic. I am officially calling for the managers head. I think they need to seriously think about bringing up some of the farmhands, i.e. Glavine, Avery, Mercker, Justice, Dye, Gant, Rocker, Klesko, The Jones Boys, etc. etc. etc..
