When Tony Armas hit the go ahead home run in the 9th inning last night, his entire family breathed a sigh of relief. "He left for Fort Myers saying he wanted to lead the league in walks," said Mrs. Armas. "Since he can't play defense, I begged him to work on his power."

He certainly did not work on playing center field. In 6 Fly(CF)X opportunities, Armas has given up 4 singles and made errors on the other two (in consecutive Kirk Gibson ABs no less). GM Curt Schilling claims there's no where else to put him. "At this point I might as well put Baylor out there," he remarked. Schilling is reportedly trying to trade Armas for a gifted young Saluki named Steve Finley. "I've got Clemens, Boyd, and Hurst," he said. "All I really need is a guy who can patrol that goofy cutout centerfield."

Concerned for their financial future, the Armas family has reportedly started taking Tony Jr. to pitching lessons.
