NLD 12

The real question is, which lucky team from the West will get the pleasure of knocking me out in the first round.

..and down the stretch they come!!

Postby PAULCAREY » Fri Dec 30, 2005 9:14 am

The United failed to live up to expectations particularly in the hitting department. With the exception of Big Papi (.297, .389, 47, 105), no one on the squad lived up to expectations. My team OPB was .310! Looks like a big matchup out west with WM/Jet fighting Quick for its playoff life, while in the East its either Niners or Korkie representing - I could force a three way tie if all the moons align. Although with Keith Moon dead, that appears remote.

Good luck to all and have a Happy and Healthy New Year. I've got one (1) credit left - [b:9f8194819c]one more 2005 go 'round[/b:9f8194819c]? :? :P

I'd like to use that excuse too, e.g. "not monitoring team closely." I would need to use it for the whole season though...

Anyhoo, two nice 9th inning come-from-behind victories for my squad last night, making them 27-23 in the last 50 games. I'm as pleased as you can be with a 97-loss team, they had a lot of bad luck in the first half and have played pretty darn good the last three weeks.

Sorry for the slight interruption. Yall may get back to the p/o scenerio talk now. :)

Another 2005 go-round

Postby PAULCAREY » Fri Dec 30, 2005 11:32 am

How about keeping the teams that we have and rolling it again? Say, five (5) cuts without penalty. Teams with the worst record could determine their placement in the drop/add portion of the season. Guys droppped could be picked up by the next team adjusting their roster (assuming cap space.

Another possibilitu would be to keep the squads that we have, reduce the cap to $80 million, make roster adjustments then add/drop.

What does everyone think?

Hawk - You and Silver are in with a 3-way tie since you both had winning records against me and will thus have better divisional records. Our only way in is with a sweep.

Day - I'm not that excited about another 2005 draft. I don't have any credits (didn't win a single credit all year despite having winning records with all my teams and making the playoffs more than half the time) so it's cash out the door. If everyone else wants another 2005 I'll reconsider.

Well I'm not saying my team would have done better if I'd actually done something with it recently, just that HAL has been the manager & GM for the past 3 weeks pretty much. I knew my team had a lot of injury potential, but I don't even know who or how many players have been injured recently, much less had the time to do lineup replacements LOL.

Nonetheless it has been fun and I'm definitely game for another go-around any time after January 8th.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the rant last night. Losing 10 of 11 will do that to you! :(

Who knows, the way this season has gone, a sweep (at home) may not be as much of a long shot as I think. (he says hopefully)

Well, I don't know what hurts more, not making the playoffs or not making the playoffs because Adam Melhuse and Bobby Crosby (with help from a WP) beat Benitez a (0 WP btw) Absolutely brutal. I'm sure your sims told you that was going to happen too.

Benitez goes 18 for 28 in save situations 64% with 13 losses!!!! Not exactly what you'd expect. :(

Well, that was the story of our stretch "drive". No hitting and 4 blown saves in the 9th over the last 15 games. All we needed was to go 5-13 this week to make it. Tough way to miss the playoffs.

And yes, I *am* bitter about it.

Good luck to those who managed to get through the minefield that is the NLD. It's not like we lost to lousy teams like what happend in the 60 mil league we were in.

Jet
p.s. I'd prefer not to play another round of 2005. Just want to put this lousy, star crossed season to bed.

GRRR I really wish TSN would list the first place teams first even when tied. Nothing more frustrating than looking a your division standings, seeing your team at the top and NOT going to the playoffs. Of course, if I could have beaten Day one more game last night it would have been moot. At least I don't have the first pick again.

I see one nay (wineman/joe with half a vote each) and 1 yay (Day) for one more go around. My record in 2005 certianly wants me to get it over with asap, but if we don't do one more we're looking at March before we get rolling with 2006. I'm not pushing one way or the other just throwing it out there.
How'd we like the 100 mil format?

Do we want to keep it for all future NLD's?

If we get a majority that wants another go round we could seek temporary replacements for one more shot is enough regulars want to go again.

As for doing a keepers with 5 drops, I'd do it, (especailly cause I'd love to see my team with Wright from the beginning of the season) but I'm not sure how many would be into it, seems a little pointless with so few drops.

Happy New Year all.
