AWOL Managers - A cancer for the tour!

Postby MonsterT » Tue Nov 13, 2007 3:31 pm

What can be done about managers who sign up for tour events and delay the process by not checking in or setting up proxies?! You know the ones who have all week to load their teams and then don't until after midnight on Friday - thus causing your league to wait yet another week to get started.

It is extremely frustrating to those who really get into the tour. I have seen managers completely lose interest in events when these cancerous managers cause drafts to languish until these slugs finally decide they'll respond. Unless some MEANINGFUL action is taken the tour will be held hostage by these creeps. Your response to this poll will give Teepack and others information they need to see just how annoyed the community is with these laggards.

Personally, if you don't have the time to commit, don't waste the time of others who are committed to playing. It's just common courtesy!

It's bigger than just a Tour problem, it happens in theme leagues just as often. Barring from the tour is one answer, but since they obviously don't really care about it to begin with, I don't know how much impact it would have...but then again, I guess it would keep them from repeat offending, which is a huge pet peeve.

I've witnessed a handful of individuals pull the same crap multiple times...either disappearing when they have to load, not setting up proxies causing all kinds of live draft problems, etc...

I'd almost advocate a rating system among fellow-managers, sort of the way eBay allows you to rate people you deal with on their site. At least then potential red-flags can be avoided. There are at least 3 or 4 managers I absolutely refuse to join a league with, based on past experience. I know such a system would need safeguards to avoid abuse, but it's worth giving some thought.

I hear you Keyzick! I join these leagues for an escape and enjoyment from the everyday grind. Situations like described above really ruin the enjoyment. It's just too bad that some are either oblivious to others enjoyment or just don't give a damn. It's really symptomatic of the times we live in.

I agree that these guys are a pain. I would like to see them removed by the commissioner from the event and future tour events. It is a waste of time to sign up for a league and then be disrespected by managers who refuse to take the time to do the draft or to load their team. It is one of the reasons that I try to avoid live drafts. I hate them.

I signed up for my league 7 eight days ago now. I still haven't even got to make my first pick! The draft has been going for 4 days! It's getting to the point where I just don't care about it anymore. Tired of checking in all the time to see if it's time to pick. I can't even remember what kind of team I want to build.

After 10 days of essentially no progress in our RD7LG3 draft we may have finally gotten a replacement for durantjerry. However, alot of the fun dissapates when you are held in limbo for such a long time. Guys get frustrated as one might expect. Would love to hear from Teepack on this thread.

Success story

Postby keyzick » Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:57 pm

I gotta tell ya...Rd 7 Lg 2 was the best live draft I've ever been in. I think it started on a Thursday and was done by Sunday...all loaded by Tues/Weds.

Part of the problem is TSN doesn't have their own site for live drafts where more safeguards could be implemented. When live drafts and league loadings go as smoothly as Rd7Lg2 did, it makes things soooo much more enjoyable.

Postby MonsterT » Wed Nov 21, 2007 10:46 am

I sent PM to TEEPACK and the site administrators directing them to this thread. I guess they decided not to comment or didn't read the thread! It's too bad, they should be aware of how the community feels about this situation.
