Strat 2006

Strat 2006

An idea for Strat 2006.

Currently you can have up to 28 players on your current roster, although in real life teams are only allowed 25. I'd like to see something where during a game you can only have 25 players available to you. However you are also allowed 3 alternates. These alternates however can only be used when they are "called up". In order to call them up another player must be on the [color=red:46131bf4ce]DL[/color:46131bf4ce] or "sent down". To avoid people calling up and sending down based strictly on there opposition a maximum # of let's say 3 call ups would be allowed before the player had to be placed on waivers. Once a player is placed on waivers every team in the league would have a chance to claim them and release a player on there current roster. The player would be on waivers for 48 hours, the team with the worst record that put a claim in would get the player. There'd would have to be more figured out, with the salary cap, ect.. ect... but just thought it was a good idea. I'd also like to see live drafts and possibley an 18 team league.

I like the expanded leagues ...18 teams would be great.

seriously, what you are asking for is too difficult for such a minute thing. There are many other things to see implemented before that, one which you his was bigger leagues.

1. Weighted waivers (missing your top 4 picks does NOT equal missing your last 4 picks)
2. Ability to draft 12 pitchers and 13 hitters (or 11 and 14)
3. Custom league size (ie. 16 or 18 or 20 team leagues)
4. Beginner leagues (you can't have played more than X amount of leagues to be allowed in, better for beginners to not get killed by a vet in there)
5. Real life IP and AB's option (for those who want more realism)

go ahead and add you own, but what Rosco is asking for is much too much programming for such a small thing.

I like all of geekor's suggestions. In addition, I would like something done to allow for injury replacements without taking the salary cap hit. There have always been great cards every year that seldom get used because of the injury roll. It would be nice to be able to use them in a normal league once in awhile.

kaviksdad,
That's where by 3 alternates would come in, if they could some how be exempt from the 80 mil cap and let's say have a 3-5 mil cap for your 3 alternates.

I think the penalty for dropping a player should be 10%, for several reasons. What Kav said about injuries and seldom used players, AND to give everyone a little more chance to make a team with a poor record get back into the race. How many times have you become disenchanted with a team because of its poor record, only nothing to do about it because of the 20% hit.

Perhaps the back to the 80s approach would help, you take a 5% hit up to game 42, 10% up to game 81 and then a 20% hit. Of course, you do have a better chance of retooling in back to the 80s because of the mystery card.
Here, your only real chance to tinker is to get really lucky

I agree with the lowering of cap penalties, especially early in the season.

I'd like to see more realism in the form of injuries.

For example...If a guy missed say 6 games the entire year, he SHOULD miss only six games in Strat. What could happen is that when a player reaches his games missed total, he should NOT get injured anymore.

[b:cfbe4c8250]weighted waivers, weighted waivers, weighted waivers.[/b:cfbe4c8250]

I've been asking for this change for how many years now and they continue to ignore this issue. It seems like such an easy fix and yet nothing is ever done. This is the one issue that doesn't get resolved that bothers me most. I've been hoping that they've just put this off so they have something to offer up as a change for the next season. But it's gone on too friggen long. Time to fix this TSN!!!!
