Fiends sweep Bombers, climb above .500 for 1st time

Postby qksilver69 » Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:38 am

The Fastball Fiends managed a sweep of their division rivals the Bombers and climbed into a tie for 2nd place in the div with a 26-25 record. Newly acquired Jarrod Washburn sealed the sweep with 7 2/3 strong innings in gm 3 while Johan Santana earned his 9th victory of the year by pitching his league-leading 4th shutout in gm 2 of the series.

Let's see if this series marks the turning point in the season for the Fiends, who were forced into some desperation roster moves after struggling out of the gate.

A day late but.. Nightly highlight from nov 14

Postby Ninersphan » Thu Nov 15, 2007 11:13 am

[b:7158914ddd]Scott Kazmir racked up an impressive total of 15 strikeouts[/b:7158914ddd] and Nick Markakis
launched 2 homeruns and scored 3 times as the Buffalo Bombers beat the Oakie
Mustokies by a score of 8 to 1.

Markakis had a big day at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
4th inning, cracked a solo homerun (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th inning
and singled in the 8th inning. Buffalo rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.

Kazmir(4-2) allowed 1 run on the game. Josh Beckett(2-6) absorbed the loss.
Kazmir was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of
all my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.'

Other than this one, how come I'm usually on the wrong end of these highlights :?:
