If you want to be really crafty you could use Piazza as your DH vs. RHP and catch Mauer. You run the risk of Mauer being replaced for the rest of the series he gets hurt with a non-catcher.

Catch Piazza vs. LHP and use Mauer as the defensive replacement.

If you didn't know about the "indestructible catcher," there is a code written into the CD-ROM that prevents the last remaining catcher on the roster from getting hurt. Ever.

So you can take advantage of two injury guys who will perform far above their worth when exploited like this.
