Batting Lofton at the bottom of the order

J-Pav,

I noticed that you have Lofton in the bottom part of your order. Do you have concerns about DPs with him? I think he has a 30 percent chance of a DP. Would it not be better to bat him in your 1 or 2 holes?

Thnks

FWIW, whenever I've used Lofton, he's been my DH leading off.

Hey socal,

Or at worst second with bunt more and hit and run neutral behind a * lead-off guy.

Hope you are well,

Yeah you "can" do that but...why take a guy with over 30 hit chances and over 45 TB chances and have him bunt more?

All is well thanks.

Sorry so late to the game, I didn't know this one was for me until just now.

After juggling the lineup around to create some karma, I ended up w/ Lofton leading off (and so following Taveras, who is now batting 9th).

I used to completely ignore the overanalysis stuff, like clutch and double-play guys and bunt settings. I played much better in those days. Now I give myself analysis paralysis when I work on my teams, but it's fun to me that way sometimes. Lately I'm trying to stick to the best two guys bat third and fourth theory, and leave it at that. Bay, Guillen, Mauer, Dye and Overbay should be getting the most at bats, as they are all + .370 OBP [b:82ef640905]AND[/b:82ef640905] + .500 SLG. The problem is, HAL is HATING the crap out of this team offensively. It's not the cards, the players are all solid. It's just a ton of bad rolls.

As for Lofton, he has to hit behind [i:82ef640905]somebody[/i:82ef640905]. How many double plays can you hide him from? It's just taking the bad with the good. Ideally, he IS probably best suited for lead-off, so that's where I currently have him. I'm glad to see he seems to be righting himself and getting some better rolls lately. Now if seven of my other guys can just get some rolls...

That's okay I was actually tring to append the Secret Formula post and accidentally tarted a new post.

I am using Lofton as the DH and he is blazing hot. The rest of my team aren't getting the rolls either. I have an ATT, Wrigley Field and US Cell in my division as well and am doing a good job of bringing up the rear so far.

Your team is solid, but like my team, HAL is just killing us. November must be [i:6542f84b9e]Let's Hate Kenny Rogers Month[/i:6542f84b9e]. HAL dislikes your pitching just as bad as he hates my offense.

How about Mariano Rivera with five innings so far through 36 games (and a blown save to boot!!)?? This is why I say give me Cordero/Beimel every time, I'll spend the six mil elsewhere.

Yes, Cordero, was on my draft list. but ended up with Chad Cordero of WAS. I also thought Gonzales mighthave been good as well paired with Beimel.
