Other SOM games on SN Horizon?????

After playing Strat since 1969, I have to say the Sporting News venture is one of the best things that's happened to an already tremendous game.
Any plans to incorporate other Strato games with the Sporting News? ie football, hockey, basketball???[/b]

SOM football existed briefly here. It was a good product, IMO, but never really got the following that SOM baseball has. It was shut down fairly quickly, if I remember correctly.

I agree that there was a TSN/SOM football, but I didn't think it translated well. I admit, I have never been a big SOM football fan on its own, either. Just never seemed to capture the "rhythm" of the game like they did with baseball and to a lesser extent basketball.

I seem to remember maybe two years worth of cards before it was shut down.

I think Baseball translates well to online because much of the strategy is about drafting and lineup setting. In SOM Football, in my estimation, the strategy is more about play call, which would not be handles well with a "HAL" system, so I don't think it's as good a fit. Maybe basketball, with a unique set of offensive and defensive settings to be used against each other team.

The fun part of the football game was that you can beat a better team by out coaching them. Which translated to paying daily attention to your teams and tweaking the strategy. It wasn't a format that one can run 12 teams at the same time.
