NewYearPos Position Draft

Postby novie » Mon Jan 02, 2006 11:20 am

Question is, is it WC (pick anything at all) or DH (any hitter at all)?

I'm guessing it is DH.... which really screws those with round selections yet to be named.

DH means all top 1B, C, 3B can and likely will be drafted this round.

Glad I took Greenberg when I did!!!!!

Divisions are 1,4,7,10...2,5,8,11...3,6,9,12

Enter your selections from the Live portion of the draft as well as any additional AD picks you wish to make... DO NOT enter anyone elses Live picks. You MUST enter all your live picks or you lose the rights to them... become a FA.

Waivers are determined in the normal SOM/TSN fashion.

Hopefully Buck will check back in... we are stopped otherwise.... unless those picking are not going to draft a P of any kind.

My guess is 1B but until it is announced we're basically screwed

Since some of us are unsure as to how to approach this round, I'd like some clarification from the commissioner before I make my pick.

I was under the impression that the WC round was to be taken after all the positions were chosen. I think Buckaroo AND the commish may need to weigh in on this.

The only question here is whether it is DH or WC..... Therefore, unless you are considering a pitcher, there is no limitation as to hitter.

I am surprised that he just didn't make it 1B since he took Jack Clark anyway.

I completely disagree as this could easily be a 1B round?

Ok - a few points.

First on the clock. Since we all signed up for a draft without a clock on the holidays and some would be inconvencienced with a clock after the holidays I can't impose one. I truly thought we would be done now. Sorry Marge.

Dr. X, thanks for waiting. Picking DH now is not the fair thing to do if Clark is the pick. I could understand it if Buckaroo wanted someone who is only eligible at a position that has already been picked, but Clark is 1b eligible. That means that it is open season on 1b, 3b, and C, since you can play a DH in the field - and that is not fair to those who have yet to have a first round pick. The purpose of the WC round is to allow those at the bottom of the draft 11th and 12th rounds some advantage in first choice with what's left. EG, they could pick DH (best available lef over hitter, or another SP, or another RP). And I'm not saying that only because I have first pick in the 11th - I took the wild card concept at the suggestion of respected vets.

This round should be 1b. I can't imagine Buckaroo has a problem with that. I'm not sure how long we give him to confirm this.

Make sense?

I thought that the WC could be played anytime, I'll change the pick if necessary.
