Help with a US Cell team please...

"(Morneau's) salary is 9th highest", and that' my point. Pujols, Hafner, Thome, Ortiz, Howard, and Johnson are all better on the merits, the top few by far. In a 12 man division Morneau is mid-pack performance-wise, and for the money isnt as good as Swisher, Giambi, Delgado et al. He's a 3e9, whoopdee doo, you need an unapologetic stick there. He's a good player, but a mediocre value, and he is way outslugged and onbased by the above guys. As for Uribe, a 2e18 plus 25 bombs will never make up for consuming 450+ outs a season. You get what you pay for with him. Blech.

Thanks again for all the advice. Anyone have suggestions for who I lead off vs RH's given your prior suggestions?

If you do as suggested, I would probably go...

RHP

Gross
Rolen
Ortiz
McCann
Hunter
Ward
Morneau
Iguchi
Uribe

LHP
Hunter
Salmon
Ortiz
Morneau
Sheff
McCann
Rolen
Iguchi
Uribe

Something like that. It's not going to matter alot because you will be moving people with HRS! But I would probably bat them this way if it were me...I am sure others will have opinions better than this tho, lineups are not my specialty! I always think it is better to get the best personnel possible, and the runs will take care of themself!

As for you pitching...

Billingsley, Moyer and Pettite do not fit well here. Sanchez is pretty pricey too....I usually like cheap, low bphr SP's, one lights out RP/Closer, and a nice compliment in the pen. Cruz and Gorzellany are nice here!

Look at dropping Sanchez, Billingsley, Moyer, Pettite and replacing with Willis, Garland, and maybe Penney (or keep Pettite if you must). Have not worked out the $$, but maybe would have enough left over to get someone like Otsuka or Street to shore up your bullpen. Don't know how you could reach Ryan or Nathan, but either would be sweet here!

In all honesty you've seen very little of how the player end up playing out with 3.6 seasons played don't you think? do you at least have the ratings so you can quantify your positions besides simple salary constraints?

If you've played enough seasons, you would see that Morneau many times has outperformed those more expensive than him, I consider him a great value at 1b. The actuals predicate my response, not some BS about the salary which has no real usefulness.

Here is one of my more successful Cell teams

[b:3fb0d154bf]88-74 in Cell[/b:3fb0d154bf]

I platooned Choo/Salmon in RF, using Choo as my leadoff hitter vs RHP (note the 47 doubles  ).

Also note the relatively inexpensive rotation with Howry/Putz in the pen. Worked pretty well....

Lot's of ways to "skin the cat" as they say, but thought you would like to look at one of them. My philosophy here is
1) Cheap SP's with low bphrs
2) One dominate reliever/closer, with a solid setup guy and assorted cast of characters
3) Hitters with BPHRS all over their cards.
4) Solid D at key positions (SS, CF)

And of course a MONSTER year from Howard didn't hurt anything!

Doesn't always work of course, but is usually a good formula for success in HR parks....

Ok waivers have run and unfrotunately, with the 11th waiver pick, I missed out on all of the great big bats (Ortiz, Berkman, Cabrera). Here is my team as currently constituted. I am unsure what to do in LF/RF b/c I do not want to run more than 2 platoons (would rather 1 if I can help it) and I have Ward/Sheffield at DH now:

C - McCann
1b - Mourneau
2b - Caroll (will leadoff for me)
ss - Uribe
3b - Rolen
CF - Hunter
RF - Gross/Kielty
LF - ?
DH - Ward/Sheffield

SP - Sanchez
SP - Clemens
SP - Cruz
SP - Gorzelanny
SP - Penny
CL - Street
RP - Heilman
RP - Feliciano
RP - Geary
RP - Sherrill

I have looked at the teams in my division, and against 2 of them, I would rather have LH starters so I am unsure of my current rotation. In addition, I know I need a 6th reliever for the cell.

Your further input is much appreciated. Thanks.

By the way, has anyone ever tried F. Lopez as a cheap leadoff hitter DH vs RH's. He has great speed and 43 OB chances.

It's true that you've played 27 seasons to my 3.5, but I'm not going to just accept your opinion particularly since your "actuals" equate to a .511 percentage. I won 95 in the cell with Giambi so I'm not just talking out of my bum here.
