3 Finger Brown, Joe Jackson, Speaker, Yount, Mays, Simmons, Yaz, why do you want to pass on all these guys?

I would gobble up Willie Mays or Tris Speaker in a heartbeat

With $60M, if I get Mays or another $10M plus, I have nickel players at 1b, 3b, and Dempsey catching, with Gessler or Bumbry in a platoon with a nickel player.

I ran scenarios with Mays, and I couldn't afford Lansford and Devlin on the corners.

Yaz and Mays in Forbes, I've seen inconsistant results from them.

I don't have enough cheap viable option on the roster to make one of those guys work without punting 2 positions, if not 3.

Thanks though! :D

Ohhh I didn't realize it was 60 million. I would suggest Jackie robinson for 1st or Fred Merkle for cheap, Dempsey for catcher. Clemente for RF or Red Murray for LF and Cuyler to RF, Collins for 3B in any case. Mickey Stanley for CF. I would also take Eddie Collins over Gehringer and Donnie Bush over Ozzie.
Lineup I'd like:

Cuyler RF
COLLINS 2B
Robinson 1B
Murray rf
Collins 3B
Bush SS
Mickey Stanley CF
Dempsey C

I would then add a killer starter staff headed by M. Brown and run my opponents into the ground. My calculation is you would have 28 left for a staff: save 5 million for relief starters

Brown
Hughson
Kaat
Vance/Cvengros

If you are insistent on Ozzie then Brown could become Seaver or Hughson Boyd

Also,
Joe Jackson is actually better than Cuyler in Forbes in a 60 million league. Defense becomes less important as the league value drops. Especially if you can counter with good pitching. Cuyler and Jackson are very strong together, tho a formidable L/R punch. here is a 60 million team where I had Cuyler, Jackson and Honus: I would not reccomend Pepper Martin tho: Collins is vastly superior at 3B

dual thread going here...check this mass overhaul out, since I got little imput here, went drastic. currently six games under thru game 84, and seven out of playoff spot. playing in griffith, with dunn and two bakers in division, picked up catfish to mix and match at home with ceccerelli and merritt. will go with frock for now in homerun derby parks. picked up barney schultz and hope HAL will log him tons of innings when 3-finger and hughson aren't throwing. dumped lil joe, moved evers to 2b, and picked up lansford/b.white platoon for firstbase, and jimmy collins both ways at 3b. m. alou/leslie/ wera/ dahlgren backup insurance and pinch-hitters in non-dh league. whadya think? any hope? how do I maximize schultz/richert's innings? right now set at normal closer, schultz setup and closer vs. rh, merritt closer vs. lh., richert setup vs lhb.

Update and ever changing....

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=98269

Jones at 1b for OBP, his HR# will impact power vs LHP, or Cooper, who has a HR# on 7 vs RHP?

One thing for Jones, he can fill in when Shoeless and Cuyler get hurt.

Swapped Rolfe for Jimmy Collins to get faster, cost me some power and OBP....

Thanks!

Now top of lineup looks good, Rose OBP will work in 2 spot vs LHP, good wheels if no steals. As Petro pointed out, Rose in the 6 spot is a concern.....

But am I doomed with 2 pretty dead spots, with Dempsey hitting .200, and Ozzie v LHP and McGee V RHP not hitting? McGee might do OK in the 6 spot v LHP.

Options to upgrade salary wise involve Jones and playing a .50 guy at 1b, which would improve a position and leave a different dead spot at the bottom. Stanley is out there for CF, but he looks like a slight downgrade in hitting to add -2 to arm in CF. I like the 1s up the middle and across the OF.

Is this enough O for a $60 small ball team?
Thanks :D

RHP
1. Gehringer, Charlie (L) 2B
2. Smith, Ozzie (S) SS
3. Cuyler, Kiki (R) RF
4. Jackson, Joe (L) LF
5. Jones, Cleon (R) 1B
6. Rose, Pete (S) 3B
7. Dempsey, Rick (R) C
8. McGee, Willie

LHP
1. Gehringer, Charlie (L) 2B
2. Rose, Pete (S) 3B
3. Cuyler, Kiki (R) RF
4. Jones, Cleon (R) 1B
5. Jackson, Joe (L) LF
6. McGee, Willie (S) CF
7. Dempsey, Rick (R) C
8. Smith, Ozzie (S) SS

Riggs/McMullin or Riggs/Lansford instead of Rose. You'll have a lot more production overall.

Why not start Roseboro? His D is almost as good as Dempsey and he hits about the same.

Like your SP strategy in that you have spot starters for home and away.

RPs a little thin... never liked Worthington. Pina and Bennett would complement each other nicely as R/L closers!

On a side note, still can't believe Wagner and Carter are available on waivers, even if it is a $60M league!

Wagner never crossed my mind with Ozzie. I had Carter, but was looking at Dahlgren at 1b due to no money. The good and the bad of $60m.

I just offered Cuyler and Rose for Chance and Steinfelt, with a swap of pitchers. $1M OF are easy to come by.
