Help with a US Cell team please...

Postby emart » Mon Dec 03, 2007 5:53 pm

With the Gross/Kielty platoon, I'd be tempted to dismiss the Ward/Salmon platoon in favor of Thames for LF, using Dunn at DH.

Honestly, I think this team may have difficulty winning games. Not much OB, particularly vs. RHP, which you will see most often, but I wouldn't have too many platoons, either.

And I think you may need another R2 RP in there to suck up innings. Correia, Bauer, maybe Crain?

Just thoughts.

Emart - How can I possibly use Thames when removing Ward for Thames lessens my OBP vs RH's considerably? Thames' OB is putrid...

Much less expensive than the platoon, no platoon problems, more pure HR. That or take your chances running two platoons and drop Dunn for Thames. Thames has a much better card v. RH than Dunn, though the OB is similar. Might not have enough $$ for that.

Tough lineup to build in any direction, and not much help on the wire.

I can't get around running 2 platoons but this version has much more OB vs RH's. Problem is I don't have a DH vs LH's and need to figure out how to get one.

Suggestions appreciated.

Bernie Williams 1.00.

I think I would prefer Bauer or Correia to Crain because of Crain's bphr.

Thanks for the Bernie and Bauer suggestions. Do you agree with the other changes I made?

Good job getting Scott. Always consistent. For managers who have these down to the wire decisions to make I seem to recall reading a long while back that you can still make moves [b:be1d604779]after[/b:be1d604779] the start of the games on the first day of the season as long as they were completed before the results of the first day games are posted. And you wouldn't incur the 80% penalty. Is this true? Just a vague forum memory. I've never done it.

Who's your DH v. R? Clark? Not sure there. Perhaps package him and Lopez for Huff. More hitting and OB and less injury. Or downgrade Carroll and upgrade at DH. Still like Thames. IMO, 5.4 (Carroll) is a lot to spend on a hitter without bphr when you're playing in the Cell.

And you can still move players without penalty until the games are played.
