Round 7, League 5 - Sign-up time (LIVE DRAFT)

the official tournament of SOM Baseball 20xx

I will only fill if Mr. Alou isn't in the league. I intentionally avoided this league because he was in it. His inactivity, failure to leave proxies, and tendency to disappear multiple days at a time are typical. I actually don't mind that as much as the fact that he has never addressed a reason for his disappearances or apologized for singlehandedly holding up a draft.

I am in league 6 if anyone wants to try to get that rolling.

Two major secrets were unveiled today:

1. Jodie Foster is gay. That one we all knew about anyway.
2. Mr. Alou is a habitual league messer-upper. This one fowldog and Teepack knew for sure and others may have. It would have been nice to know this from the start myself.

I will stay if this thing goes on. But there seems to be mounting evidence that Alou's going to eff this thing up for the remainder and frankly I'd rather split. But I won't desert the group unless at least 4 or 5 of you are going to leave with me.

Hey Uncle NY...while you're complaining about people holding you up in this draft, we've been waiting for a week now for you to load your team in the Through The Years 07 League. Maybe some mutual consideration...?

I am as frustrated as anyone about the pace of this draft, but Teepack is the commish and I will abide by his decisions. MrAlou is definitely at fault for his lack of participation, but I hope that everyone can agree that the bigger problem is the current format and technology.

The draft mechanism needs to operate entirely within the TSN site and there need to be stricter regulation of when events begin and end. As for tourney format, I really would like to see something along the following lines:

Qualifying round (everyone plays 5 events

Top 36 qualifiers (based on 4 best scores) play in three semifinal leagues

12 playoff teams from semifinals meet in Finals

Mr. Alou has caught up again (although it's his turn again) and now we're missing Buzzman. If Fowldawg wants to take Buzzman's place, we can do that. But he says he will only replace Mr. Alou. So what's a boy to do?

We could just stop this league entirely and all move over to League 6 (sans Mr. Alou, of course) and start anew, or we can soldier on if Fowldawg says he'll take over Buzzman's team.

Buzzman has so far drafted:

C. Guillen
Crawford
McCann
Hall
Sheffield
Crede
Oswalt

I don't want to start all over again. There has been talk of competitive disadvantage, well that's not necessarily true. How many times have you drafted what you thought was a great team and your great players had off years. It's happened to me and the opposite has happened also. When the draft is done Alou, Buzzman George Mitchell or whoever will still have decent players because most of us are going to have to draft cheaper guys as we get near the cap. Plus the championships I've won were with teams I've retooled on the fly so I say let's amble on.

Alou

Look, I still want to play. I just refuse to be held hostage by Alou. You get rid of alou and get somebody in here that can finish this I will resume drafting. I am not trying to behave like a spoiled child, I was ON TIME for my picks and NEVER held up the draft past my time limit. I just had had enough of Alou and decided not going to take it. This is not chess by mail and after all parties are aware the draft has started it should not take a week to complete. JMO

Look, I'm not happy with Alou, either, won't get in a draft with him again, but if everybody else is ready, I can live with a 2 hour wait every time we get to him. He obviously can put together a good team anyway (check his record on Mesquiton's post; he's Colorado99 or something like that). We just have to be ready to skip him.

I have no interest in starting a new draft at this point.

P.S. Right now the draft is being held up by Buz and only Buz.
