Would team win in Petco?

the BPHRs don't matter as long as their natural card ability to produce HRs is high, do you have the ratings disk?

looking at my disk, these are listed as the top 20 pure HR hitters from the left and right side (the percentage is for their card only, but it is still a good metric to compare by):

the numbers listed are the "chances" on the card, and the percentage (chances/108 * 100)

looking at that list glaus is a good choice (that's not considering his injury, just pure HR numbers)

No, I don't have the ratings disk. Thank you very much for posting that for me. I will check and see if any of those other guys are available but am still keeping Glaus. I have Chipper Jones to back him up because I expect him to get hurt often.

I think you can order the ratings disk on this site.

I had to dig into the strat-o-matic order site a bit to find it, but here it is, fyi, the new ratings disk will be coming out soon

http://www.strat-o-matic.com/eShop/20Review.asp?ProductCode=B2005RD

the disk gives you raw info for the cards, meaning the "chances" that something will occur on the card versus left handers and right handers

there are 108 chances on an SOM card per side (versus lefthanders and righthanders), this is a direct relation to the dice rolls, I can get into it more if you would like

[quote:39ac9d0259]How do you find a number three batter? What should I look for?[/quote:39ac9d0259]

well the #3 position in your batting order should be the best overall hitter you have. Obviously there are studs like Bonds, Pujols etc that fit in there and are easy to see. Basically you want someone with good BA/OBP to drive in your leadoff guys and to also get on base for your cleanup hitter. Some power would be optimal as well. B Giles might be ok for you there vs righties. but I really don't think that lineup will be scoring enough to win enough games. Too bad someone like Hafner isn't out there to really give your lineup a kick.

btw, start Clemens in your 2nd game, as you don't want him facing RJ, Santana, etc all season long.

[quote:4f7c2d9f42]Glaus has two BPHR's on each side but also has those #fly's...don't they sorta cancel the BPHR's out? Also...he has more natural homeruns than any other hitter I've found on the FA list. Pretty much have Jones for defence. [/quote:4f7c2d9f42]

crazy, all #'s are BPHR's whether they are listed on the card as HRs or outs. The distinction on the card is for basic game play. So Glaus has 4 BPHRs on each side.

Hafner hit well anywhere, bat him 3rd vs righties, probably 6th vs lefties....

btw, what other parks are in your division. You're playing in Petco but pick up pitchers who have no bp hr's, which is a waste in Petco. Unless everyone else in your division is hitters parks, even then I still wouldn't be doing that. The advantage of Petco is to get pitchers with very low WHIP's, who have BP Hr's. Because those BP HR's will become out's and if a pitcher has a lot of BP Hr's he is priced cheaper, therefore you get more bang for the buck. Someone like O Perez (the under 2 mil one) is a perfect example. That's why I suggest Otasuka (sp?).
