Designated hitters

Designated hitters

Any opinions on who are some of the best options under 5 mil? In the past I have had Wes Covington (pretty good), Hack Wilson (good, but pricey) and Larry Doyle (good but still a little expensive).

What type of park? What type of offensive player does your team need most (HRs? OBP? balance?)?

Buck Freeman, McRae, K. Boswell (small ball cheapo), Adcock, Quirk/Pafko platoon in a hitters park...

It is more of a general question, not specific to a team. I was thinking more of balanced hitters or a cheap platoon. Mcrae is an interesting choice, have thought about using him but would definitely need a solid back up.

How about Rosen. At just a smidge over 5M (5.13), the dude can hit.

Devlin ain't bad for smallball if a cheap option is needed.

Alou makes an excellent RH DH. I've also used Mincher as a LH DH in a platoon situation to good effect.
