New Theme League - Birthday League - SIGN UPS IN PROGRESS

Postby doctrcpa » Wed Jan 04, 2006 9:21 pm

agabriel - thank you for taking the initiative on providing the birth dates. Can we get you to change your mind? :D

I think that once we have the birth dates we can try to formalize some of the rules. My initial thought is $80M (assuming that one or 2 months are really lacking in players), and no DH.

Are there any other rules that we should consider?

Here is a thought to help league be more competitive and compensate some for the difference in number of players born per month.

Perhaps all players priced over say 8 mil can be declared free agents. That would help even things out. You might even hold a brief 1 or 2 round live draft to distribute these free agents. Draft order to be determined by number of total players available for each month with least drafting first. Undrafted free agents could either remain free or revert back to whomever should own them based on birth month.

I would also prefer $100M, DH and lots of trading! I think the undrafted players should be free agents.

I chose September in honor of my son's birthday, which he shares with Duke Snider and Joe Morgan.

IMO the fairest way is for everyone to pick a lottery state and following the lottery, pick your birthday month by draft order.... :)

I'm with Merm on choosing a month before we go to lottery picks. I chose September by rolling a die between January (my daughter's birth month), March (my birth month), and September (my son's birth month). I didn't look at the players available. April, my wife's birth month, was already taken.
